No matter how strong or independent an individual, there comes a time or stage in their lives, where they must depend on others. Such is the way of life.

No matter what precautions one takes, nothing is ever entirely in the hands of the individual, all are puppets suspended on the strings of fate. Such is the way of life.

"Why do you look like you're in pain?" Balthazar gazed at her quizzically as he propped himself up on his elbow and stared down at her.

"I...was just thinking." Sadie didn't mind sharing her story with Balthazar for she knew he wouldn't take it lightly. But he wouldn't understand her point of view either.

"Well, you can go think in the shower while I make us breakfast." Pecking her forehead, Balthazar hauled himself out of bed and refreshed himself in the bathroom before leaving the room.

With a heartfelt groan, Sadie left the warm, comfortable confines of the bed and went to shower. A clean pair of clothes had been left for her in the bathroom, no doubt Balthazar's doing. Grateful, she quickly showered and donned the clothing. Whistling under her breath, she found herself skipping to the kitchen. She didn't know why she was in such a good mood, but she wasn't going to dwell on how it had quite a lot to do with a certain Chieftain. Ignoring her fluttering heart, Sadie seated herself and waited patiently for the food. Moments later, she sighed in bliss as the first morsel sent her taste buds on a journey to heaven. There might be some perks to having a Chieftain around.

"Where's Blue?" She couldn't help but notice the menacing aura absent from the house.

"Probably giving Satan a run for his money." Balthazar mumbled under his breath.

She couldn't help but be grateful to Blue for letting them stay in her house. The house itself was simple, no cute decorations or flower arrangements in any of the rooms. The only bright colours in the otherwise grey and white house, were the large and magnificent paintings lining the hallway and proudly decorating the rooms. Each more exquisite than the last, a veritable myriad of colour, and intriguing depictions of nature drew ones attention and enraptured the viewer. Blue's taste was applaudable.

"When will we be heading back?" Sadie asked, she was grateful to Blue for housing them, but she'd prefer to have a good amount of distance between herself and that female at all times.

"As soon as Blue returns and informs me of the state of the stream. I will not risk your health." Balthazar announced firmly. "Perhaps I should have a bridge installed."

"Perhaps I should castrate you." Blue hissed. She shut the back door behind her and shot Balthazar a sharp look that had him shutting his mouth immediately.

Balthazar rolled his eyes at his friend, before turning to cook himself a second course of breakfast.

"There will be no damn bridge. I've got too many visitors as it is, I will not be making it easy for people to come here anytime soon." Given the intensity of Blue's stare, Sadie was sure Balthazar could feel the female burning holes in the back of his head as Blue spoke, but he kept quiet.

Hearing the ringing of his phone, Balthazar quickly excused himself and ran to answer it.

"Blue, I have a question..." Sadie trailed off.

"What the fuck is it this time?" Blue groaned as she banged her head against the table.

"I want to go back to my parents house." Sadie rushed out. She needed time away from Balthazar to fully understand her situation and there was no better place than the comfort of her own home. She wrung her hands in nervousness as Blue stared at her blankly.
