Since the Beginning

Acceptance

Dan took a deep breath and looked at his best friend next to him. Phil was smiling, having a private moment to himself.
"Are you ready to do this?"
Dan asked him, as he brought Phil back from where he had drifted.
Phil met his eyes, their pupils starting to gleam as he looked at him.
"I've always been ready Dan.
I'm just happy you are too."
Phil reached for his hand and their fingers intertwined.
He started to rub little circles on top of the younger hand. Phil always did this when Dan was nervous. At one point they used to hold hands during a lot of their old videos, but when all the drama in 2012 hit, Dan didn't feel comfortable doing that anymore.

But now, he had finally reached the point where he was comfortable telling the internet that they were together.

After all these years of being scared, and having to hide the truth. Phil and him were finally going to tell the truth.

Dan reached for Phils cheek and lightly kissed the top of the his head.
"Thank you for waiting until I was ready Phil, I know it's been hard...I just can't thank you enough, and I'm so sorr-"
Phil had leaned forward and cut the younger boy off, his lips answering the unwanted apology. Dan let Phil in and he couldn't help but cry.
Phil had been there for him during thick and thin, when he was struggling with depression, university, and even when he came out to his family.
Dan can still remember Phil holding his hand that day, never letting go. Even when his parents yelled cruel suggestions to Phil.
He would never be able to express how much he loved Phil, because love was such a mundane word to use. And Phil deserved so much more than just "love".
Dan continued to kiss Phil, his emotions getting the best of him, not even caring about the camera at this point.
But then, he couldn't take it anymore. Dan had to tell everyone. To get it off his chest. Phil has waited years and if he didn't do this now it was never.
Dan pulled away lightly and looked at his best friends warm comforting eyes.
"Phil, let's do this"
The older man laughed and tucked his head into Dan's chest.
"I love you, Dan"
Dan smiled, "I love you. More than you can imagine, Phil"
