"Tattoos really aren't his thing." I told Charlie for what felt like the millionth time, but she just wouldn't listen.

All I had done was casually mention the fact that I had a tattoo that I always wanted to get, but it never felt like the right time. And apparently a Tuesday afternoon before a game was the perfect time. I really wanted to do it, I just didn't know how Patrick would feel about it. A small rose on the inside of my wrist was all it was, and yet I didn't want him freaking out or anything.

"Listen, it's not his body. It's yours. You want a flower on your wrist? Get a flower on your wrist. If you want a tramp stamp of scooby doo, you get a fucking tramp stamp of that dog. No regrets. No permission." Charlie exclaimed and I couldn't help but laugh at her speech and how true it really was.

"Fine. Let's do this." I sighed, finally walking into the tattoo shop we'd been sitting outside of for at least an hour.

When it was finished, I honestly couldn't have been happier. It was beautiful, and I felt so free. I was finally doing things that I wanted to do, and I felt unstoppable.

"I am so ready for the summer." I whined, clutching my jacket tighter around me.

"Gotta love living in Chicago." Charlie laughed, as we made it to her truck and jumping in. "By the way, I like that little ring on your finger there."

My cheeks flushed red, I couldn't help it. She was the first one to notice it.

"So yeah, Patrick got me a promise ring. I know it's a little childish, but it's honestly so perfect." I couldn't help but smile.

"I don't think it's childish at all. You guys are so great together. Patrick is the best friend I've ever had, and I knew it would be hard once he actually had someone to call his own, but I couldn't be happier. You are so perfect for him, it's insane." She assured me.

"That's so sweet of you to say, Charlie. You're too nice." I grinned at her.

We drove out of the city, and made our way to her and Jon's house. The plan for tonight was to have dinner and drinks with some of the team. You would think that we would all grow tired of each other, seeing as though we spent so much time together, but that was rarely the case. We were a family, and it was a better family that I could ever had expected.

My heart rushed when I saw him, and I would have thought that after several months together, that I wouldn't feel so giddy when I saw him, but I did. Every time.

I snuck up behind him, and placed my hands over his eyes.

"Guess who?" I said, trying to disguise my voice.

"Tiny hands, grapefruit shampoo, and vanilla lotion? My, whoever could it be?" The smile on his face was obvious in his voice.

"It's me, your girlfriend!" I laughed, and spun him around.

He put on a fake shocked face, and I giggled as he pulled me into his chest, and leaned down and kissed my forehead.

"What's this?" His voice turning to concern, as he saw the bandage around my wrist.

"Oh! It's nothing bad. Honest." I promised, shrugging off my jacket, and gently taking the bandage off.

He examined it without speaking for a moment, and I bit my lip. Charlie had told me about how Jon reacted to her tattoo, and it made me nervous. What if Patrick wasn't as accepting as Jon?

He leaned down, and got within only millimeters away from my ear.

"This is the sexiest thing I've ever seen." He whispered into my ear, and pulled back with a grin from ear to ear.
