♕ Chapter Eight ♕ - Shawney!

Start from the beginning

"No 'Cory honey'." Mom states and I start giggling as dads face falls and he lets out a 'oh'.

"Shawn doesn't have to know that I know, you know?" I say and after hearing that aloud it sounded pretty messed.

They give me weird looks and I roll my eyes, letting out a sigh.

"What I meant was, I'll pretend dad never told me anything. I'll just act surprised when he tells me the news. That will make him happy for getting to be the one to tell me and also save dad." I end with brows raised and a smile.

Mom and dad nodded slowly as if thinking.

"Sounds good to me," Dad says earning a glare from mom.

"Of course it does. Your as–butt gets saved." She says giving me an awkward smile.

She was gonna say ass. I may not use words like ass or words that others use, but I do understand them very well. Like words Maya whispers in class whenever a teacher takes up a pop quiz or whenever the "nerds" –like Maya likes to call them– talks too much. Usually they raise their hands on the very end of the class, when it's fifteen or ten minutes left and talk for about twenty minutes. I would do the same, but I don't like bad words.

Dad gasps at mom's words. "That's not true!"

She laughs mischievously at him, "Oh yes, it is."

"Mom, dad–"

Dad rises his chin up and closes his eyes, proudly. "Not.At.All."

I stand up making their attention fly over to me. Once I've got both of them listening to me, I let out a sigh and smile. "Thank you. Let's just...stop arguing right there and start getting ready?"

Mom nods her head and dad scratches his chin. When he doesn't give a sign of yes mom gets mad and starts growling at him, her eyes twitching while she does. It must've scared dad up a little bit as he starts nodding his head eagerly, hands fold tightly in front of him.

"Yes! Let's do that! Please, right away!" He cries.

Mom folds her arms in front of her chest and smirks. "Good. Get up."

He stands up almost immediately and puts both arms on each side of his body.

"Go get cleaned up." Mom demands and dad runs off to their room.

I let out a light chuckle as I walk over to mom. "Wow, you really can control him, mom."

She drapes her arm around my shoulders and laughs. "Of course Riley. A woman needs to show the man where she stands. We can't let them walk all over us, we'll get dirty."

Mom was my role model. A lot of teenagers my age would see the Kardashians or Obama as a role model because their famous, rich and has achieved something big in life. In my eyes, my mom has achieved so much more in life that they haven't. Respect. That's why she was my role model and has always been, because she doesn't let people walk all over her.

"I love you, mom." I rest my head on her shoulder with a sigh.

She gives me a side hug. "I love you too, honey. Now go get ready, we want to welcome them as great as we can with a tidy house and beds ready for them to sleep on, right?"
