You walk out during a fight

Harry: It’s not an uncommon occurrence. But as soon as your hair whips around the corner he deflates, the fight leaving him instantly. The fear that this is the time, the final time, and you’ll never walk through that door again fills him and he regrets that last comment. He glances at his phone, but knows instinctively you won’t pick up yet. Your adrenaline will still be running high, as will your temper. So he sits down on the now empty couch and waits, feeling just how much he needs you.

Niall: Makes him hate himself a little more. You didn’t like leaving things unresolved, so for you to just get up and walk means that this time was different and he had taken it too far. The guilt and hatred are weighing down on him and he can’t just do nothing. He fills the time until you get back with a blur of activity, making your favorite food, cleaning up the mess from his earlier agitation, and strumming his guitar in anticipation of singing his sorries to you the second you walk back through the door. If you walk back through the door.

Louis: Or at least, you tried to. This fight was furious, and you had just given up, no words necessary as you turned on your heel and made for the door, grabbing the first jacket you could (which happened to be his), and reached for the doorknob, shoes already on. But there he was, moving faster than you thought possible, blocking the way. Your face had no expression, but he tried anyway, wrapping his hand around your wrist. “Don’t leave. Yell, cuss, throw things. But please, just don’t leave me.” His blue eyes are earnest and you sag in defeat. He twines his fingers through yours, and pulls you into his arms.

Liam: Makes him realize just how royally he screwed up this time. You weren’t stupid, and leaving the house at 2:30 in the morning by yourself was stupid. You could look after yourself, but he knew that wasn’t always enough sometimes. The worry set in and he paces around, debating on going out to search for you, calling until he realizes you left your phone at home. He is almost mad with panic before he gets a text from Jack and Finn, your best friends, letting him know you’re with them and that you’re not ready to talk, but will be back tomorrow to work it out. As soon as he knows you’re safe, he collapses on the floor, the full weight of what he’d just done hitting him.

Zayn: Happens in a blur. This time you didn’t want to end in the bedroom, things still left unsaid. So you walked out, needing to be away from him for a while to sort out your thoughts. It wasn’t much better, but your best option. After walking around aimlessly, you ended at a park, sitting alone on a bench. He knew you too well, though. Less than 20 minutes after you’d sat down, he was there too, saying nothing, cheeks red with cold as he sat close enough for your arms to touch. The quiet “I’m sorry” was enough for you to grab his hand, letting your confused and angry feelings go, content for now to just sit with him in silence
