Chapter 22

Maddox's P.O.V

Brinley feel into a deep sleep on my shoulder. I got us home as soon as I could, I didn't want her to freeze. I am a little upset that she didn't get to tell me about what was bothering her. It really seemed to get to her.

I looked down at my little mate sleeping peacefully in my arms, well I thought peacefully until she started to shake. She whimpered very loudly and I felt something wet on my shoulder. Is she crying? Oh no what is happening.

She starts to shake to the point I had to stop walking to make sure was ok. "Baby I need you to wake up." Nothing. She wouldn't budge. I try to shake her and still nothing. She started to glow. Wait what GLOW!

She shakes more and I have no idea what to do. My wolf then comes out of nowhere trying to take control. Let me help mate. He yells at me. Brinley is glowing even more now and I'm really scared. I am not going to be responsible for her death. Wait why would she be dying.

Okay you know what enough of that death talk, she is not going to die. I am an alpha I can take care of this. I can now see that her canines are starting to come in along with her claws. Ok this is not good. Right?

I mean look at her. She has sweat beading on her forehead. Since her canines had come in and she was biting her lip there was blood coming down her face from her lip. At this point I think she wouldn't stop shaking for a year at least. She had her hands balled into fists and they had blood spilling from them meaning she had her claws in her palms.

Usually wolfs do that sort of thing to control themselves from shifting. IF you inflict enough pain you can stay or shift back into human. If Brinley was doing this to stop sift than that meant that she was somehow awake.

"Brinley come on wake up, tell me what I can do to help."

She opened her eyes and what I saw shocked me. Her eyes, they were changing constantly from each color. The longest one color stayed was about a second. I was amazed. I kept staring at Brinley and she stared to freak again, but this time was different.

She looked down and closed her eyes. She let her wolf take over and she completely shifted. She wouldn't look at me and all I wanted to do was help her. I put my thumb under her wolfs chin and lifted her head so she would look at me.

"Baby please tell me what's wrong. I can't help you if you don't tell me things."

She just looked at me. I could see all of her emotions through her eyes. Sadness, regret, and happiness. We stared at each other for about 2 minutes until she finally moved. She walked up to me and licked my cheek. Then she did something I wouldn't have expected her to do.

She laid down in my lap. I wasn't sitting in a very comfy position so I picked her up and moved to sit against a tree. She didn't really do anything when I moved so I started to pet her.

She purred under my touch bringing a smirk to my lips. I scratched behind her ear and she leaned into my touch. Her back leg started to twitch when I kept scratching her ear. I chuckled and she looked up at me with a grin across her wolf face.

She shifted back and I give her my shirt again. My shirt was so big for her that when she shifted it only ripped the neck part. She blushed and took the shirt from me and changed. When she sat next to me I started to get tired.

I decided to talk a little to her. "So are ya going to tell me what happened?" I asked her.

She looked takin back. "Um can I tell you later when I know we are away from everyone and no one can hurt me?"
