While in New Rome, Percy came across an aspiring writer. Hoping to help him out Percy started telling the man all the adventures he had with Annabeth. He asked him if he could promise to someday write a story all about the Son of Poseidon, mostly as a joke, but the man kept his promise. In june of 2005, Rick Riordan published The Lightning Thief. He kept his promise to Percy Jackson.
