''Dad'' I groaned in frustration,
''What? I'm fine now!''
''No, you are not! What if something happened? Why didn't you eat on time? The kids got scared as well! And the cake is not even that important!'' I screamed all this in one go and everyone just simply stared at me, not saying anything for the next five seconds.
''I'm sorry, okay?'' Dad said sighing and I slumped down on the couch, gritting my teeth. I had all sort of worst scenarios running in my mind while we were coming here, so many bad thoughts had plagued me. It was only twenty minutes but felt like a lifetime and everything over a stupid cake.
In that moment, Oliver decided to clear his throat and made his presence known. For a second, even I forgot that he was standing a few inches behind me. Dad turned his head to his direction and confusion passed on his face, and then recognition hit him,
''Oh! You are the guy who came for coffee right? Violet's friend?''
''He's no-''
''Yes, that's me, Sir.'' Oliver replied, sounding more well behaved than I knew he was. I stared at him with disbelief, but his attention was solely focused on my Dad, or it was better to say on leaving a good impression on my Dad.
''You probably drove here, right? Why don't you stay for dinner?'' Dad offered, grinning widely. I stood up before things could get out of hand,
''Oliver must go back to practice, he doesn't have time.'' I announced and looked at Oliver, gauging his reaction. He just smirked at me and nodded to my Dad,
''She's right, I better get back now. I just wanted to make sure you were okay.''
''I'm okay, thanks. Unfortunately, the cake is not, the whole thing fell.'' Dad sounded more worried about the stupid cake than his health.
''And it left a whole lot of mess in the kitchen that I and Elliot had to clean.'' Linda grumbled.
''Who cares about the cake Dad? We'll just do the party without one. I'll take Oliver out now.'' I was in rush because I already knew what Dad was planning on saying next. Unlike Lars, our level of telepathy was out of this world.
''Why don't you come to the party as well Oliver? It's nothing major, just a small gathering in the garden.'' Dad could have just splattered my face with salt and that would have been okay, but inviting Oliver to the party just ended all excitement I had.
''Sure, I'll be there.'' Oliver said, giving me a meaningful look.

My birthday started with Elliot reminding it that it was my birthday and I struggling to wake up. Since the party was starting in the afternoon, I had plenty time to dress up properly, I didn't know why Elliot was annoying me.
''Let me sleep today.'' I told him groggily, swatting away his hand while he was trying to remove my comforter.
''Its half past ten, don't you have to get ready? Rhodes is already here. Your friends came too.'' I bolted upright when he said that,
''Ugh, I told Dad to cancel.'' We did something every time someone was having a birthday, the idea of having a party wasn't new, which was why I had tried my best to convince Dad to call it off after Oliver left. He wasn't feeling well and there was no cake, the world was on our side in this matter. Dad had been stubborn though and refused to listen to me.
''It's not every day you turn seventeen.'' He had said, and I had rolled my eyes in the most offensive way. I wasn't turning twenty-one, just seventeen, I had no accomplishments under my belt so why was he making a huge deal out of it. And I was sure he had been preparing for the party since morning, even when he was supposed to be resting.
