Lucy continued to wear the engagement ring during that day. With Lucy and Harry's engagement going, Harry spent some time with his new fiance before leaving for a charity event. Lucy had never gone to a charity even alone and she would soon be expected to do that. She wished not to. Though this charity event had been with William, so she suspected he would know pretty quickly. Harry had been bouncing off the walls when he left. She doubted he planned to do this morning or that way, but no one could go back now.

Eggsy, a pug puppy with cream fine hair and a black face that Harry and Lucy got when they came back from Minnesota, U.S.A., ran up and tried to hop up on the furniture. With him yet so small, he bounced off but continued to try. Lucy watched him as he kept trying with no thought of helping him.

"Lucy!" called a female voice. Catherine came into the room. "You look like you're about to vomit." The Duchess of Cambridge plopped down next to Lucy on the sofa. "Already getting cold feet?"

Lucy glanced over.

"The ring," Catherine stated, "and Harry already told us all. Let me see." Catherine grabbed Lucy's hand quickly and glanced over the jewels. With Catherine's ring being Diana's back in the day, Lucy's ring was certainly modern but at the half cost of Catherine's. With Catherine's ring being one blue jewel and smaller diamonds around it, Lucy won for more diamonds. "Pretty."

Snatching her hand back, Lucy sighed. "What if I do have cold feet already?"

"You've probably been thinking about this for a while."

"It has been building up, more and more. But I thought Harry would do it differently."

Catherine arched an eyebrow. "I didn't take you the type to want it done differently."

"No," Lucy shook her head, "I like the way he did it. In fact, I love it, because I wasn't expecting it. But Harry likes to be romantic most of the time, and I don't overly enjoy it." Sometimes Lucy got annoyed; she just wasn't a romantic person. "So I thought he would try to do it all romanticized, and I had prepared myself for that. He didn't do that. He did it in the kitchen."

"Did he get down on one knee?"

"Yes."

"He accomplished his romance." Catherine's brown eyes came to her. "But, really, he did it in the kitchen?"

"No one told you that?"

"I have no idea what happened. Harry came over and was jumping up and down like a child having to pee. He said you said yes, and Will knew what that meant. I doubt Will actually knew how Harry did it."

Lucy agreed. "An event today?" she asked referring to Catherine's outfit.

"Yes." Catherine stood. "Do you like the dress?"

She had no decision on it. The dress was a dress; that was as far as she got. Catherine smirked at her almost sister-in-law. "Is my life forever destined to talk about dresses?"

Catherine laughed. "Only sometimes, but for the next couple months, yeah. Have fun dress shopping."

Lucy groaned again as Catherine left, off to her charity event. Silence filled the room. Eggsy had went to see Catherine as she came in but with the Duchess of Cambridge now gone, he tried to get up again. His little legs worked so hard to get up but he was not yet big enough. At least he didn't pee around the apartment.

"Siobhan, what am I doing with my life?" Lucy asked, knowing she hovered outside the door. Siobhan tended to hover in the morning, especially when Lucy had nothing planned for the day.

Her personal assistant walked in and smiled. "I don't know, ma'am." Lucy gave Siobhan a dirty look, but the personal assistant called Lucy ma'am on purpose. Lucy in the beginning told Siobhan to call her Lucy but that never stuck. "Congratulations, ma'am. Nice ring."

Groaning, Lucy rolled her eyes. Her hand dropped to her side. "How long until everyone knows?"

"The personal staff know and the Queen's staff. No more than that. I would give two months at the most until it goes public, tomorrow at the least."

"Two months?"

"In case you decide not to get married, ma'am." Siobhan's eyes brown eyes danced over Lucy, sizing her up, as if she placed bets now if Lucy would make it down the aisle.

"Lovely."

"Ma'am, today when Harry returns, they'll send in a wedding planner. They'll want to get started immediately."

Lucy blinked at her.

"The monarchy would like the wedding to be this year. It could be as early as July all the way to December. Do you have preference?"

That's quite quick, Lucy thought, almost like shotgun wedding. Perhaps she was secretly pregnant with twins and she didn't even realize it. "I haven't talked about it with Harry." Lucy hadn't talked about much with Harry. After a celebratory kiss, he had to get ready for his events of the day and he rushed to do that. Lucy was left alone.

"Do you, ma'am, have preference?" Siobhan asked.

"Autumn," Lucy sighed, "I like the colors."

"Good choice, ma'am."

"Siobhan, what else am I looking at? What else do I have to do?"

"You realize you'll be royalty, ma'am?" This was why Lucy and Siobhan worked well together. "There will be royal engagements to go to, especially after your engagement is announced. However, you'll be assigned a personal guard sooner rather than later, ma'am, soon a member of the royal family."

"One?"

"Unless more is needed." The personal assistant stepped forward. "I know your past, ma'am. Please do not have more than one necessary."

Lucy laughed. "One will be good enough."

Siobhan left the room, and Lucy sat alone once again. Groaning, she leaned back into the chair. Lucy put her left hand into the air and she examined the ring. The London sun would hit the ring and blind her. There were so many diamonds on it. Of course, the ring would be worn to public events but not constantly. She couldn't image wearing it constantly. How was it possible? It was so heavy.

She knew she had to get used to the weight of the ring but it seemed impossible, a wildly difficult task. Lucy let her hand drop again and picked up Eggsy, bringing him up on the sofa. He immediately started sniffing her hand and then he tried to bite the ring. She took her hand away but of course he tried to chase after it. Eventually, the puppy grew tired and laid on her stomach. Silence filled the old apartment again.
