I love that picture of Sebby so much!!!!
OK, I'm calm now. Onward, Soldiers! The story awaits!
------------------------------
Steve came back up soon after you and Bucky had finished eating breakfast. He was carrying moving boxes. You sighed and looked at Bucky.
"Well, it looks like this really is happening." He took your hand in his and gave it a squeeze.
"As long as I'm with you, (Y/N), I don't care where we have to go." He kissed your knuckles, and you gave him a weak smile. He stood up and walked over to Steve. You got James out of his highchair and walked over to them.
"So, where do you want to start?" Asked Steve.
"Let's start with the clothes." Said Bucky. Steve nodded, and they headed towards your bedroom. You headed back to the kitchen and started to clean the breakfast dishes. When you finished washing and drying them, you thought it would be best if you started to put the dishes into boxes instead of putting them back in the cabinets temporarily.
You went into the bedroom to get a box from the boys. There were boxes all around the bedroom, some empty and some full. One box was labeled "Hoodies." You went over to it and opened it. Sure enough, the entire box was full of hoodies. You were puzzled. Bucky saw you staring quizzically at the box.
"What is it, doll?" You pointed at the box.
"How in the world do we have enough hoodies to fill a full box?" Bucky shook his head.
"Not we. Those are my hoodies. Yours are in with your shirts." He pointed to another box labeled "(Y/N)'s Shirts."
"Ok, let me change my question. Why do you have this many hoodies?"
"Because I want to make sure that I have enough hoodies so that I don't have to wear the same one every day."
"Bucky, there are enough hoodies here for you to be able to wear a different one for a month and still have more to spare! But you know what? I'm not going to say anything else about it. May I please have an empty box?" Steve handed you one. "Thank you. I am going to start wrapping the dishes in newspaper and putting them in here."
"Ok." They both said and kept putting clothes in boxes. When you had left the room, Steve looked at Bucky.
"I wonder what her reaction will be when she realizes that there are two more full boxes of your hoodies." He chuckled.
"That's just one of the problems, Steve. I'm already trying to figure out how I'm going to tell her that there is a box just full of my baseball hats."
--------------------------------
After you had packed all of the dishes into the box, you decided to take a break. Natasha and Bruce had come up to see how you were all doing. Bruce had been helping you pack the dishes away while Natasha watched James.
"Steve told us earlier about what you two are going to do." Said Bruce as the three of you went over to sit on the couches.
"Yeah, I don't know what we'd have done if Steve hadn't come up with the idea to call Fury. Bucky and I owe Steve for a lot. I mean, it was because of Steve that we met." Natasha and Bruce looked interested.
"Really?" Said Natasha. You nodded your head.
"Yeah."
You thought back to that day in 1935. You had been walking down the street when you saw a boy sitting on a bench gasping for breath. No one was stopping to help him. You went over to him and sat beside him. When he had finally started to breath somewhat normally, you asked him what his name was. He answered that it was Steve. You then told him your name. You asked him if he was ok. He said that he was but that he had asthma. He had been running, but it was too much for him. He said that he had been running down the street with his friend. He had been able to run father than he usually could, so he kept going. He finally had to stop, but his friend hadn't noticed that he had fallen behind. He explained that it was normal and that his friend would be back soon.
You sat there with him, waiting for his friend to come back. Steve finally directed your attention to a boy walking towards the two of you. He had brown hair and bright blue eyes. He stared at you as he walked up to the bench. He then looked over at Steve and asked him if he was ok. Steve said yes, adding that you had kept him company while waiting for him to return. Steve introduced you to his friend whose name was James. James took your hand in his and kissed you knuckles, never braking his eye contact with you. He then told you to call him Bucky. The boys then walked you home, and they asked you to meet them to get ice cream the next day. You accepted, and the rest is history.
"Wow." Said Natasha. "See, it's hard to imagine Cap as a weeklong when now he isn't." You laughed.
"It was a hard change to comprehend at first! The first time I saw him like that was in a poster advertising war bonds! My friend.." You paused. (Y/F/N). You hadn't thought about her in ages. "My friend, (Y/F/N), she showed it to me. She actually had gone out on a date with Steve before. The night before Bucky had to leave for Europe. She was embarrassed about having to walk around the Expo with skinny little Steve while so many of us had big, strong dates. You know, I haven't thought about her since the night I got abducted. She was the last person I talked to before I woke up on the plane. I wonder what happened to her."
"What was her full name?" Asked Bruce. "Maybe I could find her name in a census or some documents or something."
"Her name was (Y/F/F/N) (Y/F/M/N) (Y/F/L/N). Could you really do that for me, Bruce? It would mean a lot to me!" He smiled at you.
"I can sure try." Just then Steve and Bucky came out of the bedroom. They were surprised to see Natasha and Bruce.
"Well, it looks like all of you are having a party while we've been working." Said Steve walking over to the kitchen. He opened the cabinets, only to find them bare. "Where are the glasses? I want a drink of water."
"The glasses are all packed up. Bruce helped me get everything in the box. There's bottled water in the fridge if you want it. Bucky won't drink it."
"What? Why won't he drink it?" Said Natasha.
"Why don't you tell them, Bucky?" He sighed.
"Tony put that water in there. It's special protein water. He drinks it all the time. I don't want to drink it. Water shouldn't be tampered with. I think that Tony is the way he is because he drinks it." Said Bucky, matter of factly.
"Buck, you know that makes no sense, right?" Asked Steve who was drinking the water.
"You know what, Steve? If you want to turn into an egotistic maniac with a metal suit, go ahead, but don't come crying to me when it happens." Bucky came over and sat next to you. "I also don't like the water because he makes fun of me on the logo." Grumbled Bucky. You laughed.
"That is the main reason he won't drink it. He made the rest of that stuff up." You said patting Bucky on the shoulder
"What does the logo say?" Asked Bruce.
"Winter Fresh. There is a picture of Bucky on it, and it says that 'Winter himself endorses it.'" Natasha and Bruce chuckled.
"It isn't funny!" Said Bucky, taking James from your arms. "See, James Jr. isn't laughing. He knows what is and isn't funny, but then again, he's our son, so he's perfect."
