A New Myth: Part 3

Start from the beginning

"Alternate. Go to camp in the summers, and go train with Sadie during the winter, fall, and spring."

"Great, I'll just do that." I sarcastically.

"Yes, you will." He said, before the graveyard disappeared.

----------

"Carter?" I called out into the darkness.

"Over here." Said a voice. Rounding the corner of the graveyard, I saw  Carter petting Freak tiredly. He looked up at my approach.

"You ready to go?" I nodded. Together we climbed on the griffin and took off into the night sky.

We rode in silence for a moment, until Carter broke the silence. "Is everything better at camp? Is it better than the Brooklyn house?"

I laid my head tiredly against his back, and he sighed. "I think I will be coming back, but yes, things have gotten slightly better now. I think it may be just knowing both sides of my heritage."

I felt him tense up. "When....when do you think you will come back?"

I explained to him that Anubis had told me to go back at the end of the summer. Right now it was only June.

"Okay," he said softly. "I'll be waiting."

----------

Even when I laid my head back on my pillow in the Apollo cabin, I still didn't gain peace, even in my dreams.

Everything was white. It was a nothingness. The blond boy stood in front of me. A smirk spread across his face.

"Do you know me, Nicole?"

I swallowed the lump in my throat. "I've never seen you before." I said, my voice small and small and weak against the white.

"Oh, but you have Nicole. You met me in your last dream, and you met me again today." I did have a vague sense of this boy. Not because I had seen him before in my dreams, but I feel like I knew him.

"My name is Luke." He said as he slowly walked closer to me. I tensed. There was something unnatural about him.

"But that is only one of my names. You probably know me by my newest one." His hands reached out at me, and tightened unbearably hard on my arms. Slowly, his form changed so there was almost no resemblance at all. Only the look in his eyes—cold and hard—was the same.

"Do you know who I am now?" He asked, picking me up. I did, and it terrified me. I opened my mouth to say his name, the one I knew him by, but never got the chance to say it. Suddenly we were in a cell, both of us kept behind bars. He flung me against the wall, knocking me out.

---------

I sat up in a tangle of blankets on the floor. My head pounded in protest, telling me to lay back down. But I had to hurry. Before he got back. I looked around nervously. All the other campers were still asleep, but it was light outside. Early morning. Quickly, I pulled a jacket and some shoes on, running outside. I had to find Nico. He said he was the son of Hades; maybe he could help. I ran into the forest, going to where I thought Nico had taken me. I stopped. Looking around, I didn't see any sign he could be here.

"Nico!" I called. "Nico I need your help!"

After a moment or two, a rustle sounded behind me. "Nico?" I asked turning.

It was Jason. "Nicole? What are you doing here?"

A wave of disappointment spread over me. "I was, um, I was just looking for a friend."
