"Now darling, you be good on your first day, won't you?"
I nodded, trying for my usual grin, but only managing a grim smile, "Yes Mama."
"Remember, I'm only a phonecall away if you need me, Hon. Don't hesitate."
"Yes Papa." I stepped out of the car, gathering my books. We had a personal driver, Saure, but my parents wanted to drive me into school themselves on my first day. I appreciated the effort, but it was wasted; I didn't feel any more comfortable here than I would have if I had been alone.
"Cheer up sis'!" my twin had texted me, in an attempt to help me feel better about transferring. It didn't work. But I couldn't stay at that school, so I suppose that this Ouran place is the better option.
I fiddled with a strand of my long, black curls, nervous, but nonetheless entered the vast building, eyes glued to the map that had been sent in the post.
Who was I kidding? With a name like mine, I was doomed from the start.
It was okay when I had Ace with me, because then we could just laugh at the people that dared mock us, reduce them to dust with our gaze. But now, I was alone, tossed into an unfamiliar ocean without my lifejacket, up the creek without a paddle, as Papa would say.
"Rescue me, I've been kidnapped and sent to a pink-painted schoooool~" I texted Ace back, and his reply was making my phone vibrate in seconds,
"The school is PINK? Wow, I really pity you now. Good luck~" with that irritating final message from my unhelpful brother, I snapped my phone shut, slipped it in my pocket, and grumpily pulled my hood over my head.
I grumped through the halls; grumping down the west corridoor, grumping up the stairs, grumping- uh, bumping into someone. Two someones, actually.
"Ah, sorry for grumping- I mean, bumping into you." I said quickly, the two seemingly identical twins circled me, scrutinising me, and making me even more nervous than I already was, my cheeks pinkening.
The one on the left spoke first, "Hey, Kaoru, I don't think-"
"We've seen her before, have we?" the other finished, before both turned to me, leaning close. I leaned backwards, as they said together, "Are you new?"
I took a large step backwards, hitting the wall with my head, which seemed to amuse them greatly. I winced and rubbed it, answering, "Yes, I just started here today. I'm Aisling Nakamura, nice to meet you!"
I beamed at them from behind my sunglasses- it was bright outside, despite being Autumn, and very sunny.
The grins that the two exchanged gave me a sense of foreboding, "Well, I'm Hikaru."
"And I'm Kaoru,"
Once again, they broke off from seperate speech and said, in sync, "And we're the Hitachiin twins."
I still smiled, feeling my hopes raise. These two seemed nice enough; if everyone here was like this then what did I have to fear?
"So, Aisling-"
"Please," I flushed, "Call me Ai." my voice dropped to a mumble, their gazes extremely unnerving, "I hate my name."
The pair exchanged looks, "Okay, then, Ai. What class are you in? We'll take you there."
