(REACT Snippets are going to be mini-chapters featuring one or two individual Beatles. They'll be reacting to some aimed directly at them, whether it's a video or a game or anything really. Since I'm a terrible person who likes watching people suffer, I'm getting Paul to play a popular video game...)
Okay, Paul, you get your very own react chapter today!
Paul: "I do? Ooh, I feel so special... and mildly terrified."
Today you'll be playing a video game called Can Your Pet?.
Paul: "I've heard of that game! Apparently it's really cute and a lot of fun. I was actually kind of hoping I'd get to play it."
You get to create a pet, name it, play with it, feed it, do everything you would normally do with a real pet.
Paul: "That sounds fun. I love my pets, so why not add another one to my collection?"
Ready to play?
Paul: "Hell yes! Now... how many clicker things do I use?"
Part One - Choosing a name:
Paul: "Oh my, it certainly looks like a cutesy game. Okay, time to name my little birdy thing. I think I'll name him... Blueberry. I like blueberries and I like my little pet, so I'll call him Blueberry. There... Oh! He's so adorable! I love him already! Hi there, little Blueberry! You're so cute!"
Part Two - Dressing your pet up:
Paul: "What? I get to decorate him too? Oh, look at all the cute little outfits! And all the hairstyles - I think I'll give him his own little moptop. There we go. I'll give Blueberry those sassy, half-closed eyes, just to mix it up a little. I'll give him the scarf and... Aw! Some little rosy cheeks! Oh, he's so cute!"
Part Three - Feeding your pet:
Paul: "Time to feed him. So I just click this and drag it to his... Oh! He's eating it! He's eating the seeds! Oh my God, this is so much fun! Why did he eat the whole bag though? Whatever, I'm sure it's all very nutritious. I need to keep feeding him and fill up this little Feed-O-Meter thingy. Aw, he likes it! He's jumping around, all happy-like! Oh, I feel like such a proud dad!"
Part Four - Washing your pet:
Paul: "Now I get to wash my Blueberry bird! A bit weird, but whatever. So click and hold, and... Oh, that's adorable! Oh no, he doesn't like - Oh, wait, little Blueberry does like it? It's hard to tell with his little sassy eyes. You're such a sassy little bird, ain't you, Blueberry? A sassy little bird who doesn't like being washed. You have to be clean! I won't stand for grubbiness!"
Part Five - Playing with your pet:
Paul: "Now it's time to play with my pet. Here, Blueberry. Do you want to play with the ball? Oh! We're playing keepy-uppies, are we? Oh, that's so cute! Little Blueberry, you're so cute with your little moptop and sassy eyes and your amazing ball skills!"
Part Six - Bicycle Race:
Paul: "What's this? A bicycle icon thingy? I wonder what it does..." *clicks* "Oh no, what just happened? Why did the floor fall away? What's going - OH MY GOD! BLUEBERRY, NO! NO, NO, NO!... OH NO, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!... NO!... OH NO! WHAT SICK SON OF A BITCH CREATED THIS GAME?! LITTLE BLUEBERRY WAS BARELY ALIVE AND YOU KILLED HIM OFF?!... OH, MY GOD."
Part Seven - Can Your Pet?
Paul: "What now?! CAN Your Pet?! CAN YOUR PET?! Oh my God, that's such bullcrap! It's so sad, goddammit! Poor Blueberry... Oh no... I just killed him. Ugh, this is so evil! Why would you do that? That's is so evil! Can Your Pet is just a pun! A horrible, horrible pun! Oh no... OH NO..."
Verdict?
Paul: "That was awful! You tricked me! You knew that was going to happen! I'd grown attached to Blueberry! My little Blueberry birdy is probably on a supermarket shelf by now! Oh my God, such bullcrap... I hate you all... I think I'm gonna cry... That was just... so many levels of wrong."
