Mum says
"Your eyes are red,
get off your phone."

"I've been crying,
sorry." )
Mum says
"You have bags under your eyes,
got to bed earlier."
( I say
"My mind keeps me up,
I'll try to sleep through it." )
Mum says
"Why don't you smile
instead of moping around."
( I say
"I would if I could,
but I can't." )
Mum says
"Stop looking so miserable,
I can't stand it."
( I say
"Sorry to disadvantage your life,
I'll just go." )
( I, of course,
say this all
in my head.
I would not
dare to say
this out loud. )
