I cannot tell you how much this story has meant to me. A few episodes before the end of Season 2 of the Vampire Diaries, I thought to myself “I’m going to write Vampire Diaries FanFiction and see if I can finally manage to finish something.”
There were times when I thought to myself “What the hell am I doing?” “No one is going to read this.” But somehow I managed to shove those negative thoughts aside and carry on writing. And I’m glad I did, because the reception I’ve had from “Delena FanFiction: A Long Weekend” has been phenomenal – more than I ever expected when I started out on WattPad.
It’s the first time I ever tried to write FanFic, as it’s never crossed my mind before. But my teenage life has been filled up reading The Vampire Diaries by LJ Smith and the Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling. These two series are the only things I would say I am “Obsessed” about – I can honestly say that LJ Smith & JK Rowling’s books have changed my life. They’ve shaped my entire writing style.
When it was announced that there would be a TV show of The Vampire Diaries, I was ecstatic; so much so that I managed to forget about the fairly big difference in plot between the books, and show, and enjoy both on separate levels. Nina Dobrev, in my opinion, does a fantastic job of capturing the Elena I grew to love and admire from the books, yet at the same time delivering a feisty and powerful twist to the character, of her own. Nina Dobrev has convinced me that she is Elena, and convinced me that Katherine is a completely different character.
And Ian… What can I possibly say about Ian other than that he really is Damon? He’s taken the book character of Damon to a completely new level I didn’t even know was possible – his mannerisms, his look and even his lines. Every little thing about Damon Salvatore that I liked in the books, I’ve grown to love with Ian’s characterization in the TV Show. Ian, quite frankly, is a genius. Oh and one of best and hottest male actors of all time, not forgetting.
Some of you have asked if I will write another Delena story, and honestly, I don’t know. I have various ideas for another Delena story – but I don’t feel comfortable writing too far from the plot of either LJ Smith, or the TV Show. I think that if I was to write another FanFic, it would be a continuation of the Book Series – taking off after where LJ Smith got fired, and writing the final instalment of TVD. Or maybe, who knows, I’ll do a collection of one shots. When you’re fourteen it’s really hard to map out your future ventures, as I have no knowledge of what’s around the corner.
Even if I do write another FanFic, it’ll be after completing my “Dramione Harry Potter FanFic” that I started recently:
Because now that I’ve managed to finish something, I want to finish everything else that I’ve started, before beginning anything new. So who knows? Maybe you’ll get a new Delena FanFic with the start of Season 3, or maybe you won’t get one for another year. Only time will tell. One thing that is certain is that I will always always always keep on writing.
I am honestly so happy with every single comment; vote; fan; Add to Library that I’ve received, because it’s given me the inspiration to persevere with my writing efforts – because there are people out there who want to read my work, despite me thinking otherwise for a very long time. I was stunned at how you all seemed to lap it up – not once have I received a negative comment (even if I had, though, I’m not sure that would deter me!) I was shocked at the support I received from all of you. It still amazes me. I’m beyond grateful to all of you.
