I felt the duffle hit me before I saw it. I grabbed it and looked up to see a truly beautiful girl. It was obvious she wasn't one of those girls who cared about makeup or fashion, but there was something about her that just clicked with me.

"Oh wow, I'm so sorry!"

She looked comfortable in her jeans and hoodie, but I knew instinctively that her body was incredible. She was on the taller side and slim, without being skinny and curves that I couldn't wait to get my hands on. Her wavy brown hair was tucked behind one ear. I would have loved to see her eyes, but she was wearing sunglasses.

Kinda weird, wearing sunglasses inside the bus. Not like the sun was shining in her eyes or anything. But weirder still was the huge dog just behind her.

It's not every day you see a dog as massive as this one. He was mostly black with white legs and like twice the size of a German Shepherd. He looked like he would kill for his mistress and everyone on the bus scooted a little bit away from where he was.

"I get that I'm the new kid, but I didn't think I was actually invisible." I laughed, trying to hide my nervousness. A dog like that wouldn't be allowed on a bus full of kids if he were vicious right?

She stuck her hand out and introduced herself. "I'm Cassie, and I really am sorry."

"No worries." I shook her hand. Her skin was soft. I caught a whiff of something. Not perfume, maybe her shampoo? I think it was raspberries. "I'll just put your duffle under the seat."

"Thanks." She smiled and motioned to the furry monster. "Oh and this is Jack."

Jack is definitely not a name you give to a murderous canine. I think I'm in the clear.

"Oh cool, my name's Greg."

"It's okay if we sit back here?" She asked.

"Yeah, there should be enough space." Seriously, how do dogs even get that big? "It's a three-seater."

"Thanks!"

She touched the seat and recoiled slightly when her hand brushed against my thigh. A shock arced from that touch, and I wondered if she felt it too. I literally saw a spark fly. She blushed bright red and murmured a "sorry" before sitting down. Jack settled in beside her and laid his furry head in her lap.

"It's pretty amazing that they let you bring your dog with you."

"I haven't really given them a choice." She murmured.

Okay, weird, maybe she's richer than the Vatican and he's her guard dog. He was placed in her crib when she was a baby and they are now bonded for life! I chuckled inwardly at my own vivid imagination.

She finally took her sunglasses off to reveal the palest blue eyes I'd ever seen. Girls have been telling me that "they could get lost in my eyes" since forever and I always thought it was a stupid pick-up line. I finally understood the sentiment.

This girl was something else. She was sweet, that much was evident from her overly apologetic introduction. But she didn't do the girlie cutesy thing. It was a refreshing change.

Cassie really was breathtaking. I smiled at her, but she didn't even look at me.

What the hell? Girls always look at me. That Megan chick practically threw herself at me and I had to hide on the back seat of the bus. They were always trying to get in my pants. Don't get me wrong. I'm happy to oblige when the mood strikes, but most girls just aren't interesting enough to hold my attention.

"Hey New Kid!" A hulk of a boy waved at me from the bus aisle. "What are you doing with Creepy and the Mutt?"

Cassie smiled. That tiny defeated smile had me in a choke-hold and I wanted to scoop her up and just hug her and protect her.

"Nah man I'm cool. Thanks though." I nodded back at him and made a show about settling in.

"It's okay Greg. That's David Banks. Football hero and all around boy wonder. Make friends with him and you'll be set. It's probably better not to sit with me anyways."

David looked confused when I didn't get up to join him but didn't challenge my decision further. Not sure he even knew what rejection was, not that I really care. I'm here for a reason. I may be the "new kid" but I'll only be here until I get some answers. Why should I care if steroids on legs wants me to join his clique.

I give Cassie another of my panty-dropping smiles as a confirmation that I'm not going anywhere.

And..... Nothing. Seriously?

She's not even looking at me.

Shit, I'm dense... The girl is blind.

Author's Note: Well, that's the second chapter done! There will be some cussing. Greg isn't a Prince Charming. While everything he says won't be laden with curses, I feel that some here and there reflects his personality.

What do you guys think?

Did anyone guess that Jack was a dog or that Cassie was blind?
