[The Broken-hearted Girl - Chapter 12]

I had been gawking at Luke for a long time. At least three or four minutes. He was looking really nervous for my answer, and me standing like a gawking and probably really weird looking best friend, I didn't exactly make it easier for him. When I finally snapped out of it, Luke had turned to leave. I wanted to reach out and scream 'yes', but something held me back. Weird enough. Luke turned around and faced me with hurt and pain flashing through his eyes before he slammed the door behind him.

I heard his stomping footsteps walk down the hall and stomp angrily down the stairs. I gulped and backed until my knees hit the end of the bed and I crashed down on the bed with a startled, and kind of shocked expression.

My best friend had just asked me out. No.. He's not just my best friend. He's Luke Hemmings, for crying out loud! Singer and guitarist of 5 Seconds Of Summer to be exact! As I thought that thought the guilt hit me. And it hit me hard. It had been obvious that Luke was nervous about asking me out and me not answering him.. He took it as a rejection.

I placed my arms over my eyes and groaned. Why wouldn't my brain let me reach out for him as he left? Obviously my heart was screaming 'SHIIIIT YES! SAY "YES" BEFORE HE LEAVES, DUMB-ASS!!' and my brain was like.. 'Is this really happening? Is he for real right now?' Like I went into shock at his words and my body just couldn't, and wouldn't, move. Couldn't he possibly understand that he took me off guard? That you can't just throw something like that at your best friend?

I got up from my bed and went to search through my closet for some casual sweat pants and a t-shirt with Rolling Stones on it. As I put it on there was a knock on the door.

"Wait a minute! I'm re-dressing!" There was a sigh from the other side of the door and I quickly put on the clothes. I opened the door and found a very angry-looking Calum. I furrowed my brows at him and opened the door wider for him to come in.

"Why do you look at me like that, Cal? Something wrong?" He let out an angry huff and stepped inside my room. Confused I closed the door behind him, deciding that whatever he had to say would end in a big fight with lots of yelling, which I actually begged God that it wouldn't happend, since I had a sneaking headache on the way to strike at any possibly moment. Calum sat down on my bed and I crossed my arms as I sat down next to him.

"Calum. Do you mind answering me or just get out?" I could feel myself getting kind of gloomy and sad and the headache was sneaking closer and closer as the seconds passed.

"Tone down the attitude when you're talking to me, Jennifer White." Ooooh.. He used the WHOLE name. Something obviously pissed him off, since he lost his cool. I let out a defeated grunt and shot daggers at the side of his head. When he looked up at me I quickly looked down, a little ashamed of myself. It's not like me shooting daggers at Calum. But then again; it's not like Calum losing his cool.
