Free Verse: Stronger Man
I swear to God
That I didn't fake any of this
And I swear to God
I always had you
In the back of my mind
With the best of intentions,
It's just that you're a stronger man
Than I,
And half the time
I have to remind myself
That we are in love
And what I've done
Is only worse with time.
I don't understand
Much of anything
But I would rather die
Than face all of this uncertainty
And I'm not sure that you care
Because the knife I used
To stab you in the back
Has been plunged
Into my own chest.
