Jordan and me have been on the road, heading to a little shop to get some Christmas shopping done.
While he kept his eyes on the road I was admiring the landscape around me.

Outside the window, the world was a moonscape of white. The trees which were powdered in snow and the small lights hanging down on it made me stare at them in awe.

Soon enough, my eyes drifted up to the angel at the top of one specific tree. It reflected like river-light and I wondered why it stirred up memories I never knew I had. I fell in love.

"Babe, you won't believe it! I saw the most beautiful tree ever, we need to buy it!", I spoke up while the car drive.

"Sure babe, just show me which one you wanna have", he smiled at me,"We'll get it on our way back home, alright?".

"You'll love it", I quickly kissed his cheek.

Allured by the scent of freshly baked Christmas cookies coming from a neighboring bakery amidst the bustling streets of Beacon Hills, I took my gaze off of the enormous Christmas trees which adorned the road.

I watched as people swarmed in and out of bustling bakeries like bees. The way they were hurrying through the streets made me overthink the way people started to perceive Christmas.

Wasn't Christmas supposed to bring happiness and joy to everyone? Why did this cozy season become a commercial race for time? I felt sad by thinking about how Christmas was slowly losing its glimmer.

As the evening sky faded away, the pink and orange hues were replaced with dark shades of blue and violet. A couple of presents and hot coffees later, we were just on our way back home.

"Come on Jordan, the tree stood right there", you dragged him into the last part of the shop,"Oh no, it's gone!", you fell down on your knees, almost crying.

"Babe, here are many other trees, look", he took my hand and led me around,"This one's really big and it looks really good, so why don't we get this one", he offered me kissing my cheek.

"There's none other than the one I wanted", I sobbed into the chest of my boyfriend.

"Give it a try", he took my hand again and guided me through the shop.

About 1 hour later both of us found a tree which almost looked like the one I saw before.
I knew the one I saw a few hours ago was irreplaceable, but I didn't want to annoy Jordan anymore.

During the way home I didn't speak a word to him, I just stared out of the window trying to get some rest.
Before my eyes slowly started closing themselves, I could still perceive the loud, spirited laughter of joyful children walking and talking surrounding the vivid atmosphere.

When we arrived at home I immediately got the baubles and lights, which I wanted to decorate the tree with. Jordan calmly placed the tree in the middle of our living room, doing his best and trying to make me feel as special as I would have felt if I had got the tree that I actually wanted.

„This is how I love spending my time with you, babe", I hugged him from behind, happily staring at our beautifully decorated home, everything shining in bright and warm colors.

Later on, the smell of freshly baked cookies entered my nose. There was nothing more delightful after a hard day of hard decisions to come home to a plate of delicious chocolate cinnamon cookies.
I took a first bite of the cookie which I already held in my hand, enjoying the fantastic taste of it.

A few hours and a couple of cookies later,
I could finally perceive what Jordan has done for me throughout the day, all the effort he put in making me feel happy and comfortable. He managed to make this evening even more special and important to me.

Childhood memories were coming up, reminding me of myself growing up, reminding me of the time I spent with my parents when I was younger.

„I want you to feel as comfy with me as you would feel with your family", Jordan laid his hands on my hip, stroking a strand of hair behind my ear,"I want each year to be better than the one before".

I was hugging him back tightly, a tear escaping my eye,"You can't imagine how much I love you", I gave him a passionate and sweet kiss on his lips,"You proved that I don't need a perfect Christmas tree to feel completed on Christmas. I just need you to feel completed. I don't need any material prosperity, I just need you to find my happiness".
