Chapter Five

Dear What's-His-Face,

The night before that race, I couldn't sleep.

I kept thinking about lunch.

But I shouldn't have been nervous.

Our whole team was going.

Why was I so nervous?

When I got up, I got a shower so my hair would be freshly cleansed.

I even added a bit of mascara for you.

When I got to the school I was excited for you to already be there.

But you weren't.

I started feeling upset.

The bus driver started the bus.. I guess you weren't coming.

Just as I leaned back in my seat, I heard a car horn behind us.

Probably some jerk trying to be cool.

I close my eyes to nap due to my lack of sleep last night.

I'm jolted back awake when someone jumps into my seat.

I look over hopefully and it was you!

I sit up and "absentmindedly" fix my hair.

You just laugh at my dazed self.

"Uhhm.. may I help you..?"

"No, I just figured you seemed lonely"

"Oh.."

"Yeahh.."

While you stare at me, I'm wondering why I can't speak.

I am truly an idiot.

Thankfully, Jared (the perfect definition of a nerd) pipes in.

"Heyy guyys"

You and I simultaneously

"Heyy Jared!"

"I didn't know you guyys knew each other?"

"We don't." I answer a bit to quickly.

You look at me with a hurt expression that fills me with guilt.

"I mean, we've talked a couple times, but we don't KNOW each other"

Your expression softens, making me feel a bit better.

I'm glad we're on good terms again.

Now lunch won't be too bad.

Thankfully my race went well, getting 12 minutes.

You broke 10.

When I congratulated you, you beamed back at me.

You told me great job.

That made me feel better about my time.

On the bus ride to the restaurant, Elizabeth,your cousin, Decided to announce to the bus that Justin and I would be a cute couple.

I, of course, blush madly.

You? Not so much.

You just look at her, confused.

"No!"

We speak simultaneously as the rest of the bus makes an "aww" sound simultaneously.

Woww.. Shoutout to you Elizabeth! (sarcasm)

I still remember the butterflies in my stomach as we pulled up to the building.

I look back at myself sometimes and laugh.

I was pretty scared.

Well it just so happens that I had to use the bathroom. So after paying for my food, I went on my search to find the bathroom.

I eventually found it after a couple minutes of searching.

I tried to calm my nerves during my time in there.

When I came out, I found my team and looked for my empty seat.

There it was.

Right between a grinning Elizabeth and a sorrowful looking you. And you can't forget Jared grinning like a dork as usual.

Across from you was your brother. Laughing at something you must have said.

When I got to the table, I was blushing reallyy bad.

I remember sitting down.

I couldn't forget to shoot your cousin a glare.

She just laughed at me.

So lunch went well, there were the occasional jokes about us but we didn't mind.

I still remember when your brother said his ice cream smelled funny.

He asked you to smell it for him.

Before I could stop you, he had already shoved in your face!

It was hysterical(:

During the whole lunch, you kept shooting grins at me.

I was starting to think, maybe this won't be too bad.
