As we headed back to campus, Reese and I still kept convo.
"You didn't tell me much about yourself. I basically told you my life story tonight. So tell me something interesting about you...your parents, your ancestors, your hair...anything." Reese said as he looked over at me with a smirk.
I felt a little pained. I didn't really like talking about my parents. I didn't really know my ancestors, and my hair was a topic that would take forever to explain. But I trusted Reese so I decided to tell him about my parents. The only person I'd shared details about my parents with was Jay, so this was kinda a big deal.
"Well...my parents divorced when i was 7. My Dad was never really there. I distinctly remember him stumbling in the house,:drunk and stunk of cigarettes, and he started shaking up my Mother. She fought back though, and he fell back startled. He then left the house and didn't come back that night. he came back the next morning sober and apologizing to my Mom but I guess she had enough of it. They had a huge argument, he packed his stuff, and he was gone. "
Some tears started filling my eyes. That wasn't even half the story and I was already pained to tell it.
Reese looked hurt. " I'm so sorry you had to go thru that." He slid over to the side of the road. We were in the middle of no where, and a huge luscious field of grass lay right next to us.
"Come." He said to me.
"Outside? Its almost 12am. A killer could be waiting for us any minute now!" I said in a panicked tone. Is this boy crazy?
He chuckled. "Don't worry I go here all the time. Its my place of solace. Trust me."
I still gave him a confused look, but I decided to go along with it. I've stayed out later than 12 before. I mean, I'm a big girl! But its never been in the middle of nowhere with a guy I've known for only 2 weeks. However, my gut told me to go along with it so I did.
Reese led the way. He led me to this small shed. It seemed a little run down on the outside, but when we stepped in, it had 2 comfy purple-gray sofas and pillows to go along with it. There was a lamp, a coffee table, and an inspirational poster on the wall. "Wow, this place is actually stunning for a shack." I told Reese.
He grinned. "Yea I fixed it up a bit." He continued, "So tell me...whats going on? I could see that you're hurting, and its good to let it out." His eyes were gleaming with sincerity as he looked at me. My eyes started to fill up with tears. I was reluctant to tell him anything. When he saw my eyes water up, he turned his shoulder towards me."Heres my shoulder. You can lean on me."
I grinned. I knew i could trust him. So I let my guard down, and I told him everything. How I went to live with my Aunt and Uncle for two years. How my dad sobered up and my Mom& him got back together. How not that long after, he went back to his ways, and they finally got a divorce when I was 15. I felt like I was crying forever. Reese comforted me by a couple pats on my back, as we sit next to each other on the couch. There was something definitely special about Reese because I didn't even share all that personal info with Jade.
It felt so good to be heard.
