I turn back to Courtney. “Sure. Give me one minute.”

She nods and walks out. I look at Kara. “Start the cheers, I’ll be back in a minute.”

“Madison…I don’t think you should go out there and talk to her.” Kara glares at the door where Courtney once stood by. “She’s just going to ruin your day.”

“What are you talking about?” I didn’t understand.

“Wow no one told her about the slut?” Leanne says out of nowhere.

Slut?

“Leanne I thought you were her best friend?” I said.

Leanne rolled her eyes. “Not anymore.”

“Just give me a minute.” I walk off, at a lost of what was going on.

I walked out to Courtney, who was leaning against the wall, staring up at the sky.

“Hey,” I say. She looks at me and smiles, but it feels forced. “What’s going on?”

She turns to me and almost laughs. “You mean they haven’t told you yet? I was almost positive Kara would of ran her mouth by now.”

“What are you talking about?” I ask her.

Her eyes tear up and her little body is almost shaking itself out of her shoes. She sniffs and looks away. “I’m pregnant.”

“Oh…wow.” I’m shocked. Courtney didn’t look too happy to congratulate.

“Its Franks.”

“Fuck.” I say out loud.

She lets out a short laugh. “I told him last night. He hung up the phone and wont answer my calls.” She breaks down. “I told Leanne and she dropped me. Everyone seems to know now. I’m so surprised you, out of all people, are one of the last to know.”

“Believe me, I am too.” I crossed my arms. She tucks her head in her hands and cries harder.

“Courtney, it’ll be okay.” I put my arms around her.

“No, no it wont,” She pushes me away and shakes her head. “Frank doesn’t want shit to do with me, all my friends dropped me, my mom wont even talk to me.” She looks at me, tears streaming down her face. “Madison, I have no one.”

Her eyes are lost. Her whole existence seems to be floating somewhere between depressed and alone. It sends shivers all over me.

Fuck it.

“Fuck all of them,” I walk past her and open the doors.

The squad looks at me walking up to them.

Kara grins. “I know I was pissed too.”

“Shut the fuck up Kara,” I snap at her. I look at Leanne. “You think you have a right to go and drop Courtney because she made a mistake? You, all of you,” I look at each and every one of them. “Are a bunch of ugly insensitive…assholes!” I take off the whistle and throw it at Kara. “I quit this stupid team. I quit this stupid fake life you guys love so much!”

I walk off and see Courtney standing by the door, then, I stop and turn around. “Oh and by the way, I’m in love with Ray Alonso, and it feels so fuckin good to be in love.” I smile and back away.

Courtney grabs me and pulls me out the door.

“Madison, what are you thinking!?” She says. “Do you not understand what you just did?”

“I’m not even done yet.” I pull her with me.

School was almost about to start. Everyone stared at me and Courtney as we passed them in the halls. I didn’t care though, I was on a roll.
