Breaking Through

"I'm already packed and we talked about this, I know you want to spend more time with Eli but we're going down to visit my sister. I told you, you could come with us."

Tyrone takes Eli out of his chair and starts to burp him. "Nah, you know how Siena hates me and that boyfriend of hers they're still together right?"

I get up and fetch a towel for Tyrone incase Eli throws up. "Yeah Beck and Siena are still together and Siena doesn't hate you, she's forgiven you after all the crap you put her through in high school."

Tyrone stares at me, every time he looks at me now I can't help but think of how similar he and Eli look.

"How long will you be gone for?"

"I don't know it depends."

"Well estimate for me."

I groan and roll my eyes. Ever since Eli turned one Tyrone has gotten really protective of him and always wants to be with him. He comes over every day after classes at the community college and I leave him with Eli to go to work.

"Uh two, three weeks."

"Three weeks, Nadia?" Tyrone yells. "You made it sound like this was a simple weekend trip, down and back not a whole month."

I don't want to tell Tyrone I have been planning to stay down in Florida with Siena for more than three weeks to enjoy my summer vacation but knowing Tyrone he'd have a heart attack knowing Eli and I would be gone that long.

"You can come down and visit or I'll bring Eli back up here to see you every so often."

Tyrone finishes burping Eli and hands him the new stuff animal bear he brought over.

"You know he already has too many stuff animals,"I grumble.

Tyrone leaves Eli to play on the kitchen floor and leans against the the kitchen counter to glare at me.

"Can you get Eli ready and pack the car for me while I get ready?"

Tyrone shruggs. "Sure."

I leave the two guys in the kitchen while I run to the shower to get ready. Ever since having Eli times have been tough, my parents weren't exactly thrilled when I decided I wanted to keep him yet they supported me through my senior year in high school. But now that I'm a freshman in college, I have my own little apartment and have to work my ass off to be able to pay bills and buy food for Eli and I. I opted for the small community college in our city while Siena left to go to some big major university in a city five hours away, Siena and I were never really close until I had Eli and seeing as we are identical twins theres always been a special bond between us, so being so far away from her is really hard on me.

When I get out of the shower and am dressed and ready, Tyrone and Eli are sitting on the couch watching TV. I smile at the sight of the two of them snuggled up together.

"So is the car packed?" I ask.

Tyrone looks up from the TV. "Everything is packed and ready. I still don't think you should be making such a long drive on your own with a one year old. Ask your sister to drive down here she doesn't have a baby."

I roll my eyes and pick up Eli from Tyrones' arms. "That wouldn't be much of a vacation though, besides I'll be fine Eli will sleep most of the way."

Tyrone stands up and hugs me, he pecks me on the lips before smacking my butt and telling me to hurry up and leave before he kidnapps Eli. I roll my eyes and load Eli into the car. Tyrone always likes to think he and I are a couple but ever since high school I refuse to get back together with him, it's a bad idea and we work well this way by just being parents.
