An explanation of the ending:
People are saying it's like Romeo and Juliet, but no. Romeo and Juliet knew each other for 2 days and killed themselves because they were mad at their parents. I hate Romeo and Juliet.
George killed himself because Eleanor was a hook. A hook that he clung to desperately, no matter how much it hurt, because he already had nothing. His family hated his guts, he was struggling with addiction, and his dream came to a complete halt, with visibly no hope of starting up again
Once Eleanor was killed, he snapped. He had literally nothing–literally NOTHING. Fuck, he had to break into homes for food and clothes He went into a frenzied state, as if his brain just...stopped working. The girl he loved came, practically crawling to him, and...died. All so suddenly.
Eleanor gave him something he could cling to
Once she was gone
There was nothing.
Nothing could have been done to save George...he was dead from the beginning.
