Ch.39 Ties that Bind

Toshiro's POV 

Its been 3 days since Gamabunta dropped us off at the Hospital and i've been checking on him every spare moment I get from training Sakura, I guess I fell asleep in Naruto's hospital room becasue I was woken up by Shika who for some reason came in here

"Hey, Toshiro what are you doing here?" Shika asked

I nodded

"Hey Shika.... I could ask you the same thing" I stated (wrote)

He shrugged

"Its Troublesome, but I was asked to check up on him, though if I'd known you were in here I probably wouldn't of bothered" Shika stated

I smirked

We ended up sitting around for a good while until Shika got bored

"You play Shogi?" Shika asked

I glanced over to him

"Hn?" I stated

I shrugged

"Someone taught me once but I never actually played" I stated (wrote)

He nodded

'Wanna try?" Shika asked

I smirked with a nod

A few minutes into the game I was actually doing pretty good.... or at least I think I was doing good, Shika never actually told me if I was doing something wrong so I guess I was playing correctly

"Wow, he's sound asleep.... is he dead?" Shika asked

I smirked with a light chuckle

"Wouldn't surprise me in the least" I stated (wrote)

He only nodded after reading what I wrote and went back to the board, I noted that he tends to take great care in which piece to move next.... I bet he'd be a great strategist some day.... that is if he ever gets off his Lazy Ass and put some work into it

I chuckled at my thoughts

Shika glanced at me like I was crazy..... Hell, maybe I am.

I only shrugged at him and stared out the window ignoring the looks I'm used to getting from other's who didn't understand me and smirked

What caught my attention though was the fact his gaze seemed to linger a bit longer than the other's usually did....

"Hey...." Shika stated

"Hn" I stated

"I've been meaning to ask..... though there have been a few distractions...... about what happened in the Tower during the Preliminaries...." Shika stated

I glanced at him

Huh, I guess he did notice something after all..... I suppose I can't avoid everyone's suspicions for that long..... one of them was bound to ask sooner or later....

"I don't mean to start accusations about people that I don't really know all that well but.... during the Perliminaries I noticed something going on that I'm sure no one else would of probably even noticed unless they were paying attention...." Shika stated

I nodded in a "Go on" manor

"I saw something.... though it was only for an instant, something your eyes wouldn't notice at the speed it was done with so anyone who'd of seen it would of blinked and shruged it off as nothing important...." Shika stated

"Hmm" I hummed

His eyes narrowed slightly

"Tell me, I need to know..... was it you? were you the one who helped me out with that Troublesome Woman from the sound?" Shika asked
