I had the weird sensation of being carried and a god awful scent enveloping me then I was laying on something kind of soft. My whole body was numb. I could get my eyes to open. I drifted in and out of consciousness for who knows how long. I was finally able to open my eyes and immediately someone shined a bright light in them
"Holy hell" I try to say but it doesn't come out quite right
"Baby doll, your awake" I hear someone say next to me
I try to turn my head towards him but I can't. I felt numb all over.
"How many fingers am I holding up?" A guy in a white over coat asks me
"2" I say slurred a bit
"Do you remember your name?" The guy asked
What is this, some kind of interrogation. I thought to myself
"Im Doctor Kane, do you remember what happened to you?" He asked
I don't answer because I had no idea. All I remember is falling and pain and someone blonde.
I try and fail to sit up.
"Here" the doctor said then my bed started to raise up so I could sit up an look around
I was in the typical ER room. Why was I in the hospital? A human one at that. What happened to me last night. I managed to finally turn my head and saw a really good looking guy sitting in a chair next to me.
"Baby doll, we have some bad news" the man said looking over to the doctor
"There's no easy way to say this, you severed your lower spine and are paralyzed from the waist down
"What?" I practically yell but it comes out as a croak
The guy leaves and comes back with a glass of water and holds it while I drink.
"We have you on some powerful pain meds that you will have to take for awhile until you heal. Along with the severed spine you broke a few ribs your arm and cracked your skull"
"I dont know what happened" I manage to say
"We have an investigation going, you have been here for a couple weeks in a coma" the doctor tells me
"I remember falling. And someone blonde" I tell him and he pulls out pen and paper to write it down
"Seems as if someone pushed you off that balcony" he said scrunching his old face in thought
"I shouldn't have left you alone" the guy says
Blade. That's his name. Then I remember Adrian. The man I love. I think I love him that is. Then everything flashes in my mind about my life up until Blade left my room. That's nearly a blank except the blonde and falling. The doctor leaves the room eventually after checking me over.
"Blade, you have to go save Adrian" I say to him
"You remember me?" He asks
"Yes. Almost everything up until you left the hotel"
"I came back and saw the door hanging off the hinges and you were no where to be seen. I just happened to look down into the water to see you near lifeless body all mangled and just laying there" he said
"I just can't remember. The blonde though. Something about the blonde"
I try to pull up the memories and a light bulb goes off
"The blonde! Your sister, she was there" I said suddenly startling Blade
"She did this to you?" He asked slowly
"I think so. Shes with the hunters and they want to kill our kind"
"There's something off about you" he said after staring at me for awhile
"Not the first time I've heard that. Probably won't be the last"
"I learned a few things from the other world before I was temporarily brought back, there are many more demons than we know about and there are also angels. Your both" he said
"Im a demon and an angel? Is that even possible?"
"It shouldn't be, but you are living proof, baby doll"
"And that's what makes me so different. Not only am I a demon but you say I'm also an angel"
"Baby doll, I have a good feeling about you. Your going to save a lot of lives"
"You sound like your dad"
"Wouldn't know, never met him, remember?"
"That I do"
"Whoa" he said going wide eyes while looking at me
"What? What is it?"
"You dont feel it?" He said looking up to me
"Feel what" I asked
"Look down" he said and I did
Holy hell was I floating? And what is this golden light swirling around my legs and slowly climbing up my body?
"What's happening?" I asked panicked
"I don't know" he whispered "but wow it's beautiful" he added
I slowly started to sink back to the bed when the doctor walked in. He didn't seem to notice anything weird about me floating an inch off the bed. When I was back into the bed completely I felt a slight tingle hum throughout my body and linger on my spine, ribs, arm and head.
"I was being chased, they wanted to kill me but I jumped. Why did I jump though, im sure I could have found a different way out" I mumbled to myself
"What was that?" The doctor asked finally looking at me and he did a double take
"Just talking to myself" I said wondering why he was looking at me like he was
"What are you?" He asked
Well hell
"Demon. Your one of those demons" he said starting to panic
"Nope. Not quite. Im an angel too" I tell him matter of factly
"The people wanting to kill you, hunters?"
"Bingo. I don't know why they're coming for me though. They deemed me not a demonic creature"
"Everything here is normal for a human" he said flipping through some papers
"Are you going to turn me into the demon hunters?" I ask him
"No, you seem harmless enough although your clearly no longer injured"
"Dont ask because I have no clue myself. Im still new to all of this" I say
I think about it for awhile and I've only known what I am, or only half of what I am, for a month and a half and I've been through all of this. My life used to be so simple as an average young adult going to college to do something with my life. If only my 'mom' hadn't of kicked me out. I wouldn't be here right now, but I also would have never met Adrian. Adrian. He's still missing. Why hasn't Blade tried to find him yet? Maybe because he has no clue where to start. That makes two of us.
Life has gotten way too complicated.
