I broke up with him four months ago, but it felt like a lifetime ago.

Shawn got signed to a record label a few months before, and he was buzzing about it. I was happy for him, but I had a feeling deep in my heart that I would have to let him go.

Two days before he was supposed to start his tour with Taylor Swift, which he had invited me to join, I told him we wouldn't work out. I would have just distracted him. He tried to fight for me that night, and I shut him off. Even though all I wanted to do was stay with him.

"Is that Shawn's sweater again?" my best friend, Josh, said, raising his eyebrows at me through the iPhone screen.

"Uhm, no. Why would I wear that?" I trid to laugh it off, looking down at the oversized maroon sweater.

"Come on, you need to sleep, big day tomorrow," he grinned at me.

"Yeah, the big 18. I hope it all goes well, is Jennifer coming?"

His eyes lit up when I mention her name and he smiled widely, "Yeah, yeah she'll be there."

"Goodnight, loverboy, see you tomorrow!" I waved.

"Bye!" he waved back and I ended the FaceTime call.

The Next Day

I made sure my black dress and makeup looked okay, walked down the steps of my house and opened the door, to find Josh's dark green Jeep. I walked torwards it and few seconds later Josh walks out, taking my hand in his, "Ride for the birthday girl."

I smiled and got in the car. Jennifer was sat in the front, and she looked back at me, grinning widely, "Happy birthday Alex! You look amazing!"

"Thanks Jen, you do too!" I smiled back, looking at her white strapless dress, "That dress is gorgeous."

"Thank you! Josh helped me pick it out," Jen stares lovingly at him and I can't help but smile at them both. They had a strong bond, I was convinced nobody could break it.

We finally made it to the restaurant where my "party" was held, we reunited with some friends and had lunch, nothing too fancy.

"Are you ready for round two?" Jen exclaims excitedly. "Round Two" was what I was dreading the most. A pub, disco, whatever you call a place where you get sick drunk.

But when we got there, I found out it wasn't what I was expecting. It was a Jazz lounge. Chairs were gathered in groups of 5 and there was a table in the middle of each group. Josh, Jennifer, Jena, Sam and I sat down one at a time. (A/N: I'm Hunger Games af don't judge me)

"I know we had planned to go to a pub but I thought you'd like this better," Josh whispered to me before the show started.

I smiled at him and nodded, "Thanks, I love this."

The show started and the band was amazing, and it managed to distract me from the fact that this is the only birthday celebration that Shawn hadn't attended.

The band left the stage and I turned to the table, "This was amazing, guys. I loved it," I smiled at them all, "Thank you, really."

"It's not over yet," Jen giggled and I raised an eyebrow.

The lead signer of the band came on stage again and spoke up into the microphone, his British voice booming across the hall, "Our last song of the night is one performed by a fellow friend of ours... I believe he wanted to give a message to one of the girls in the audience."
