Chapter 30 (Part I)

Start from the beginning

"Don't worry Khushiji, it won't be long now – we'll get there in about 10 minutes now," replied Shyam, slyly placing a 'comforting' hand on her shoulder.

Khushi forced a smile on her face as she gently picked up his hand off her shoulder and held them in her hands, "Thank you so much Shyamji, what would I do without you?"

Shyam squeezed her hands, silently celebrating inside that his plan was going just as planned.

Meanwhile, Arnav was already at the airport along with a team of officers who were spread across the area in civilian clothes, some with suitcases in hand.

They were all aware that Shyam had passed the last police officer they'd posted on the route and so he would be here within the next 5 minutes or so.

Even though Arnav was trying his best to be as professional as possible in this situation, he couldn't help but feel his heart racing as this was about KHUSHI.

He didn't normally make mistakes, but knowing that Khushi's life was at risk here, he felt more determined but also more afraid too.

What if he did something wrong? What if he didn't manage to save her? What if he lost her like he did his mother?

For the first time in years Arnav felt truly nervous. It made him realise how weak this love made him.

This was what he had always run away from – this weakness, this vulnerability. But today, he stood as a victim to this unavoidable feeling called love. At that moment, he almost hated the word for making him feel so weak.

But his thoughts came to an abrupt stop when he felt the shift in the air.

His racing heart calmed down, having recognised its mate's heartbeat close by.

'She's here,' he thought, looking around restlessly to catch a glimpse of her.

All his inhibitions flew away with that one thought – That she was HERE. Close to him. Breathing the same air as him.

And with that he felt the determination rush through him. He felt the adrenaline pump through his veins and suddenly he felt like the strongest man on the planet.

What had he been thinking?! Khushi was HIS. She was his angel. She was the centre of his existence. And there was no bloody way that he was going to let ANYONE take her or harm her. NO ONE got away with attempting to take away what belonged to THE ASR.

And that's when he realised something – love doesn't make weak at all. It's YOUR decision as to whether you want your love to be your strength, or your weakness.

Seconds before, Arnav had felt his vulnerability with the thought of losing Khushi. But right now, after knowing she was near him, he felt his strength multiply tenfold as he stood determined to save his love; his life.

Arnav's eyes searched around frantically when he finally saw them.

Shyam got down from the vehicle first and then extended a hand out towards Khushi like a 'gentleman'.

Arnav saw Khushi placing her hand in Shyam's and then stepping out carefully with a smile on her face.

If another man had seen his woman in this situation they may have doubted her or been angry with the fact that his woman was so close to another man.

But Arnav didn't feel angry at all, and nor did he feel even a speck of doubt on Khushi. Because beyond the perfect smile that everyone else saw, he saw the way her eyes didn't smile at all.

He saw the way she hunched her shoulders when she placed her hand in Shyam's, showing that she herself was cringing inside because of what she was doing.

He saw the way she fisted her salwar with her free hand, holding in her nervousness and fear.

So no, Arnav didn't feel bad at all, in fact he instantly understood what she must have done to fool the now smiling-like-an-idiot Shyam Manohar Jha.

'Not bad Khushi Kumari Gupta,' Arnav thought, smirking.

'After all she's your woman,' a part of him cheered.

Arnav couldn't help but smile at his own words...

Khushi on the other hand, all of a sudden felt her heart racing – dhak dhak... dhak dhak... dhak dhak...

A gust of wind hit her, letting her feel the change in the air...

'He's here!' she thought, her heart rejoicing inside.

Sorry guys I know it's a late update but life is still really busy with dad and all (he's still not out of hospital)...
