Chapter Fifteen

Roxy smiled warmly at John- oddly enough, she looked a lot like Rose when she smiled.

Speaking of Rose, it seemed she was going to be the next one to talk. Both her and Kanaya stood up proudly, holding hands.

"My name is Rose, and this is my girlfriend Kanaya. I'm not afraid to hide that anymore." Kanaya's cheeks flushed deep red as Rose leaned in and kissed her to the sound of people's applause.

Dave looked at her, his jaw nearly touching the floor. She just grinned back, first at him and then at John.

"Would you like to go next?" asked Roxy with a gentle tilt of her head. "You don't have to-"

"No. I don't." Dave stated.

But when Jade elbowed him in the ribs, her green eyes glaring, he decided to stand up on shaking legs. Swaying, barely standing up, he opened his mouth to speak.

"My name's Dave..." he mumbled like the words were stuck in his throat. "I..." He looked at Karkat, pain written into the lines of his face. Karkat stared back, his gray eyes cool, silently urging Dave to speak.

And despite all his fear...
