Temporary Happiness

Don’t let these demons take you!

Don’t let these demons break you!

Like they did with me.

I was pathetic and weak.

I died over and over again.

They might come for you;

whisper your name like sweet nothings.

Smooth honey running down your throat.

They might serenade you with an enticing melody,

giving hollow promise of joy,

and feeling,

ignore them nonetheless.

You can choose to say no,

put down the blade,

refuse to play their game,

it's never that bad, you can feel without the pain,

you'll regret it all the same,

don't let them know, your name.

Feel these battle scars,

from the never ending war,

and folklore,

you will not fight that war,

not again.

Look at them!

Learn from me.

Please baby,

don't do it.

No matter how bad it gets,

how desperate you, are,

how sorrowful and rage stricken they push you,

do not go to the demons!

Avoid their damage.

They are not the solution.

They destroy you.

Shut you out of your mind.

A carcass will stay in your place,

you will never experience true joy.

Do not be fooled by their cloyingly sweet lullabies!

You are the fly and they are the trap.

They might call to you,

with promises of happiness and life,

do not be fooled!

They will turn on you,

when it is all said and done.

When you bawl,

no one will believe they seduced you,

it will be entirely your fault.

You will hurt.

Worse than before.

Inside and out,

you will.

With sharp fingernails digging into soft skin.

To distract.

To feel.

To feel .

To feel (something else) .

Don't leave a single drop of red on their hands!

They will not safely keep it,

they will not release it,

They’ll drink greedily,

fill their stomachs,

feed their thirst,

come back for more,

ripping at your skin,

sliding their sharp tongues down your wrist,

stealing your ability to live.

They will kill you again and again,

hollow you will leave.

Find a life preserver.

Hold on to it with clenched fists!

Bloody knuckles.

But keep you clean,

keep it clean.

You cannot afford to be tangled in another curse.
