Out of nowhere, a green light flashed, followed by a pink, then black, then purple, then orange, then white. Two figures walked out of it, and a bit my tongue so hard it bled. It was the cat and snake from the painting. Luckily for me, the duo seemed confused, not angry. "Where issss Jane?" The snake hissed. "And who are you?" The cat meowed. Sure. Talking animals. Why not? "Umm... she isn't here. She had to leave. I just found that out. I'm Ashley. Ashley Delvin." The cat showed his/her fangs in what I hoped was a grin. "Understandable. Jane has mentioned you... all good things. She mentioned we might get the pleasure of meeting you some time. I am Tenten." The snake hissed. "And I am Lisssev. Jane issss our partner and friend in an important job, but she is aging. We need someone new, and you sseem as good as any. Come." And suddenly, the lights flashed again. Green, pink, black, orange, and white. When the colors stopped, we were no longer in Jane's office.
