* * *
After dinner and the campfire, I walked over to Riven's shooting range. When I got there, Riven wasn't there. No one was.
I sighed and laughed to myself. Why did I think that I would have any actual friends here? I should've known I was and am always going to be alone.
I was walking out, when someone grabbed my hand. I turned around, and it was Riven.
"Why did you do that?" he asked. I looked at him in disbelief. He was really there? He didn't just trick me into coming there?
"Earth to Kim! Hello?" he said, waving a hand in front of my face.
I pulled my hand away. "It's nothing," I said, "Why did you make Avon tell me to come here?"
I know Avon said that Riven wanted to apologize, but I wanted to hear it directly from Riven.
"I wanted to say I'm sorry for punching you and knocking you out," he said, "I just did it because I thought it would be easier for us to treat you."
"What did you even do?" I asked, "I woke up with bandages on my stomach and arm."
"Will has this cream Dad made especially for bruises, so we put it on your bruises and wrapped them up."
I smirked and raised an eyebrow. "Who's we?"
"U-um, me."
Riven was tomato red, and I decided to mess with him.
"So you put cream on my stomach, wrapped it up, and did the same to my arm?"
"Y-yeah," he stammered.
"Calm down," I said, "I'm joking."
Riven looked relieved. He then looked like he had an idea.
"Hey Kim, come with me," he said, "I want to show you what I've been working on."
I nodded, and Riven led me further in the forest. He stopped at a tree that had a sun carved into it. He started climbing and said, "Kim, follow me up."
I nodded and started climbing. After we were really high up in the tree, Riven stopped and looked down at me.
"This part's a little tricky," he said. I sighed and followed him up. Soon, we were at what looked like a very carefully placed treehouse. I looked at it in awe.
"That is really cool," I said, "Why do you have this here?"
"Sometimes, I just don't wanna go back to the cabin."
"Is this one of those times?"
"Yup."
I looked at him, trying to look like I was asking why. Luckily, Riven understood what I was questioning.
"Sometimes I get in arguments with Will and my brothers and sisters. More like I get them mad at me somehow."
I motioned for him to continue. "Today, Will got mad at me because I didn't want to help lead the sing along."
