"Victoria, dear," my mother says as she leans against the kitchen counter, her eyes glued onto the screen of her laptop. "Are you sure you don't want me to make you breakfast? It wouldn't take too long and you really should eat a real meal in the morning."

I take a last bite of my extremely juicy, blood red apple before throwing the remainder of the fruit in the trashcan. "I can't mom, I've gotta go," I say in a rush, hoisting my bag onto my shoulders once again. I walk over to her and give her a quick kiss on the cheek. "Tell dad I said I love him. Bye!" And with that I find myself out the front door.

I hadn't gotten to say goodbye to my dad, which is alright and not that unusual. He's a busy man who works for a busy company, and he is often on business calls or working when I leave for school, so I try not to bother him. My mom, on the other hand, writes articles for an online magazine, so she has spare time to spend with her only daughter.

There are only a few clouds in the sky this morning, and the sun's rays beam down on me. I begin walking at my usual pace. I'm not in a hurry, but I'm still trying. I take my phone out and end up scrolling through Instagram aimlessly as I walk.

The sound of a loud horn coming from behind me catches my attention. I stop and turn my body, only to see a bus traveling the same direction I'm walking. The bus isn't a normal city bus, it's defiantly not a school bus, and it doesn't look like a normal party bus.

It passes by my still figure, leaving me curious as to why the driver had used the horn. My phone vibrates in my hand: another alarm. It's 7:37 and the late bell rings at 8:01. Considering the distance between my house and the school, I'll probably be late, but I couldn't care less. Driving my car would be easier, but walking to school counts as working out in my book, so I'm down for it.

My heels click against the sidewalk with every passing minute as I get closer to the school. Soon enough, I spot the old, brick buildings that are known as Fort Phoenix High School. There are groups of teens huddled together on their phones, and there are also loners who lean against the railing of the stairs on the front side of the campus.

I spot Sean near our usual tree, and this morning he is not alone. Kayla Clarke sits beside him on the ground near the trunk of the tree. Her figure is leaning into him in a flirty manner, with her chest practically in his face and her legs crossed, giving him a clear view of her luscious, pale skin. Sean looks extremely uncomfortable. He catches my eye and sends me a look that clearly asks for help.

As I approach the two, I plaster a smile on my face. "Hey Kayla."

Her attention is pulled towards my introduction and away from taking Sean's shirt off. A smile appears on her face as well, although hers is so obviously false. "Oh, hey Tori. Have you seen Hanna yet? I need to talk to her about some things," she says as she uncrosses her legs and stands up. As she stands, she pulls her shorts up higher, exposing her ass to Sean underneath her. He turns away from our conversation and towards his phone.

Kayla stands as part of our group, however Hanna is the only one who gets along with her. Her and I do have moments of true, pure kindness, but that's only when our group are all together and causing trouble.

Sean and Kayla had a fling before Sean had admitted to himself that he's gay. Kayla knows that he has no interest in her, but she still throws herself at him any chance she has. In fact, before Kayla joined our little squad, we were competing with her and we all saw her as a fake slut. Nowadays, Sean and I still aren't very connected to Kayla, but we find ourselves defending her when she needs us.

"I'm not sure," I reply simply. Although, in the inside, I'm slightly worried. She had a small amount to drink last night, but she had insisted on taking the bus alone at night. Anything could have happened to her. "I haven't seen her. I'll text you if I do."

She grabs her bag from the ground and throws it onto her shoulder. "Well, I'll see you later, Tori." She looks back at Sean and winks. "See you later, Sean." And with that she's walking towards building C, where her first class is.

Sean lets out a relieved breath as he too gets to his feet, taking his backpack with him. By this time, the bell had rung a long time ago, making the three of us and the other kids standing around campus late. "Thanks for helping, Tori," he says as we begin walking towards our classes together. "It makes up for not talking to me this morning."

"It's no big deal," I say in response, waving his apology away as we enter the building and start walking down the halls. "Besides, I wouldn't want Kayla to 'accidentally' fall into your lap and start sucking your dick."

He lets out a roaring laugh. "Yeah, that is something she would 'accidentally' do. I'm glad you didn't let that happen."

I spot the door to my first class of the morning and I groan loudly. When we reach the classroom, something comes to mind. "Hey Sean, Hanna is in your first class, right? Can you text me if you see her? She took the bus home last night and I just want to make sure she's alright."

"Yeah, I'll text you," he says as he slowly backs down the hall towards his class. "But I'm sure she's fine, bitch. She's probably just either late or skipping. There's not really anything to worry about."

I send him a quick, friendly smile as he vanishes around the corner. After our goodbye, I take a deep breath and knock on the classroom door, ready to listen to Ms. Fuller lecture me on the importance of young people getting a good education.
