Melinda's POV

I woke up in a clean sterile room, or should I say suite.
"Where am I," I asked the nurse who was checking my IV.
"You are at Shield Memorial Hospital ma'am," she said with a smile. "You are safe now."
"Where is my son?"
Pointing to a small bed, I saw him fast asleep all my fear washing away that instant.
"How did I get here? How is my baby?"
"Relax ma'am. Now let me call the doctor."

The nurse left me for a few minutes before a doctor arrived and checked my vitals.
"How is my baby?"
The expression on his face told me all I needed to know as I looked away from him thinking of the gift I had lost.

Lincoln's POV

"I am going to say this only once. If I do not get a good report by three this afternoon, the person responsible for managing this account will answer directly to me," I looked over them as the men visibly gulped down their saliva. "I want results, you are slacking and I do not like to associate with fish, only sharks," I informed the company accountants as they bobbed their heads letting my words sink in.

"Sire she is awake," Walter whispered into my ear.

Getting out of my chair I left my office telling my PA to clear my schedule for the next few hours. Reaching the hospital in record time I opened her door to see her laughing with her little boy. She clearly was a good mother what bothered me was why she was not depressed as I expected. Where was the boy's father? And I hoped she wouldn't recognize me in an instant.

Clearing my throat I stepped forward to introduce myself. Noticing how frightened she suddenly was I turned to see that Walter and some of my men were in the room.
"Leave us," I ordered only for them to obey.
She still looked frightened as I moved closer to her.
"Lincoln!" Zachary shouted jumping into my arms.
Visibly stiffening I found myself relaxing as I embraced the little boy smiling at him.

Confusion was written all over her face as I settled him onto the bed.
"Good afternoon Mel," I said turning to her with a smile.
"Linc is that you?" She asked her eyes widening.

She was just as beautiful as I remembered. Her smile breath-taking as she smiled at her son with pure adoration and love. She hadn't changed much just developed into a beautiful flower.

Someone clearing their voice broke me out of my trance.
"Forgive me," I said sheepishly scratching my head. Wait what am I doing? I thought to myself as I straightened myself up. She always had the ability to make me nervous.
"Melinda, if you do not mind me asking. What were you doing all alone on the streets especially with a child?"

Letting out a sigh she told me what had happened. Every word she said made me boil with even more anger towards her now ex-husband.

Melinda's POV

Looking into his captivating green eyes that just mesmerized me, I saw them turn a shade darker with anger. He was still the tall handsome guy she always talked to. At a young age his height had shown promise to increase.
I left out one part of my story though, my pregnancy, seeing him ball his hands into fists.

A few minutes passed by in silence as he looked at us, with me wondering what his next move would be.
"I need to leave," he suddenly stated.
"What? Wait you can't leave."
"I will be back. Walter here will stay with you," he said pointing to an intimidating gentleman who smiled at her softening his features.

-----

The first thing I did was look over the information Walter had gathered about her. Looking at her husband's profile, no her ex-husband to be more precise, I smiled to myself calling my PA.
"Set a meeting up with this Christopher Watson prick. Have my lawyers draw up an investment contract which is in my favour. Make sure he cannot see these loopholes. I shouldn't even be able to see them myself," he growled out reaching the accounting floor. "Make sure I own him," he said with such vengeance.

Stepping out of the elevator he went straight up to the manager who quickly started to blabber about the mistakes they had made as his thoughts drifted back to her.
Turning without a word he left the man stunned and still afraid that he could lose his job there and then.

"Have them prepare the guest room at the manor. We will be having visitors," he told his PA.
"Sire?" The young man asked baffled.
"Am I speaking Greek?" He questioned him getting irritated.
"No sire. Right away," he said pulling out his phone.

------

"What do you mean I am being transferred?" Melinda asked the nurse panicking as Lincoln walked into the room.
