17: Animals and Algebra

Shiloh's POV:
I glared down at my paper. Math is my worst subject by far. "I don't know what x is! Ugh!"

My eyes travelled to my phone. Before I could stop myself, I picked it up. I went to Itachi's number and clicked it. It rang twice before he picked up.

"Hey Shi, what's up?"

"Can you meet me somewhere? I need a break from homework."

"Yeah, how about the park in 20 minutes?"

"Okay, see you then."

"Okay, bye."

I sighed contentedly and went to find my shoes. I headed down the stairs and yelled, "Mom, I'm going to the park!"

"Okay!"

Itachi's POV:
I felt two arms wrap around me and a head rest on my chest. "I missed you." Shiloh murmured. "I missed you too Shi."

Shiloh's POV:
I pulled away and looked at Itachi. Then, I noticed the hat he was wearing. I reached up and took it off to switch it with mine. "Awe, you're so cute!" I giggled. Itachi pouted. "I'm not cute! I'm manly." I laughed again. "Yeah, but you're still adorable!" He pinched my hip, and I yelped. "Ow." Itachi kissed my forehead,"Sorry Shi, but I'm not cute." "Yeah, you are. But let's agree to disagree." "Okay. What do you want to do?" "Pet store?" He laughed. "Let's go."

Shiloh's POV:
A bell rang as we walked into the store. "Awe!" I squealed at the baby hamsters in front of me.

"Excuse me? Can we hold the hamsters?" I turned to an employee.

She looked up,"Oh, yeah, go for it."

I carefully picked up a black and white hamster.

"You're so cute!"

Itachi turned to me. "What is it?"

"Hold your hands out."

He did what I asked, so I gently placed the hamster in his hands.

"Soft." Itachi commented.

"Can you guess what it is?"

"A hamster?"

"Lucky guess."

"The tail gives it away."

"Oh. I guess you're right."

"You guess?"

"You're right."

Itachi grinned. I flicked him lightly on the arm.

Itachi's POV:
"Awe, there's kittens!"

I laughed at Shiloh's enthusiasm.

"You really like animals, don't you?"

"How can you not? They're so sweet."

"No denying it. Do you want to look at the kittens?"

"Yes!"

I handed the hamster to Shiloh, and she lead me to the kittens.

She sighed.

"What's wrong?"

"I can't see. It's too high."

"Put my hands on your waist."

She did, and I lifted her up.

"I-Itachi!"

"Better?"

"Yeah, it is."

She wrapped her legs around my waist and I smiled.

"I'm glad you trust me."

"Of course I do 'Tachi."
