My name is Eirian, and I am about to be beheaded.
You may wonder why, ironically, the reason is almost laughable.
I am only twelve years old, born with powers unlike anything the Kingdom of Euphoria has ever witnessed. From the moment I was born, I was different. My hair is golden-brown, my eyes shine as clear and radiant as pure gold, and my skin is fair and smooth features unlike those of anyone else in the kingdom.
Because of this difference, I became both admired and despised. Envy grew quietly in the hearts of many, until it turned into something far darker. Now, those who once swore loyalty to the crown have agreed to my persecution.
And what is my crime?
The General has accused me of murdering my own family the King, the Queen, and the Crown Prince. My parents. My brother.
A lie so cruel, yet so easily believed.
General Kai is a vicious man power-hungry and merciless, a man who knows nothing of equality. My father was aware of this, yet he kept him as the Commanding General of the kingdom, valuing his unmatched skill in battle and his mastery of craftsmanship.
My father went as far as pardoning him repeatedly, even after his many crimes against the people of the kingdom. He trafficked women and children for his own gain, yet justice never touched him. In that regard, I sometimes believe my father was a fool to pardon such a man and keep him so close to the throne.
And yet, my father was one of the greatest kings of the Seven Kingdoms. I choose to believe he had his reasons, reasons beyond my understanding. Even now, knowing where those choices have led us to our deaths I refuse to doubt him.
Still, something feels terribly wrong. I sense foul play, hidden beneath layers of deception and betrayal. I will not allow them to kill me without uncovering the truth about that cunning General.
Now, we wait for his arrival.
“All bow for the Commanding General of Euphoria.”
So, he is finally here.
I look up and see it—the smile plastered across his face. A vile, triumphant smile. One that reeks of deceit and arrogance. A smile that will not last forever.
I turn my gaze to the crowd. Every single one of them is bowing bowing to the wrong man. To a traitor dressed in honor. To a serpent standing where a protector should be.
Betrayal stings deeper when it comes from many. Their silence, their obedience, their willingness to believe his lies—it will not go unanswered.
I will remember every face.
And when the truth finally rises, they will suffer for their betrayal. I will have my revenge on these people not through blind rage, but through justice sharpened by truth.
General Kai stepped forward, his boots striking the stone floor with deliberate confidence. The crowd fell into an even deeper silence as he raised a gloved hand.
“People of Euphoria,” he began, his voice smooth and commanding, “today, justice is served.”
He turned slowly, his gaze finally landing on me. Those cold eyes calculating, satisfied. He looked at me not as a child, not as a princess, but as an inconvenience he was pleased to erase.
“This girl,” he continued, “is no innocent. Beneath her strange appearance and unnatural gifts lies a monster capable of slaughtering even her own blood.” He paused, letting his words sink in. “The King. The Queen. The Crown Prince. All fallen by her hand.”
A murmur rippled through the crowd.
