Sol of the Sun Court
Sol had been born with light in his veins.
Literally—sometimes it leaked from his fingertips when he focused too hard, little sparks popping against the air like impatient stars. The healers said he’d grow out of it. He never did.
Prince of the Sun Court, heir to the blazing citadel of Auravalon, and wielder of wings as golden as the dawn itself… Sol found the title far heavier than his radiant armor.
The Court expected him to be a perfect flame—steady, bright, unyielding.
But Sol had always been more of a warm ember than a wildfire. Gentle in speech, confident in battle, and endlessly patient with the people who needed him. It irritated the council. It delighted the citizens. And it left his father—the Sun King—somewhere between annoyed and confused.
Sol’s closest companion was a small fire familiar named Ember, a fox-shaped little spirit made of living flame who followed him everywhere, leaving tiny scorch prints on the marble floors and getting Sol in trouble on a near-daily basis.
Ember adored Sol. The feeling was mutual.
Every morning, the prince trained with the royal guard, learned diplomacy in suffocating halls, and tried—unsuccessfully—to ignore the tension growing between the realms again. The Sun and Moon Courts had been enemies for centuries, long enough that no one could remember the exact spark that set the feud ablaze.
Some said it began with a stolen relic. Others whispered it was a forbidden love. A few blamed the gods.
But the truth was simple:
Night and Day were never meant to touch.
And yet… Sol had always felt the borders of Auravalon were too small. Too rigid. Too bright.
He often wondered what lived in the shadows beyond the sunlit fields—what mysteries the Moon Court hid beneath its silver horizon.
He wondered what their people were like.
And he had no idea that fate was preparing an answer.
One wearing grey-shimmered wings and a stubborn scowl.
But that was still to come.

Vespera of the Moon Court
If Sol was born of flame, Vespera was born of shadow.
Her wings shimmered like storm clouds, translucent grey with a dusting of silver along the veins. Her hair was dark as midnight, her eyes sharp and observant—always watching, never trusting too quickly.
Vespera wasn’t royalty. Not a noble. Not a council member’s daughter.
Just a warrior-in-training from a quiet lunar settlement, skilled with a blade and even more skilled at getting herself into trouble.
She had a streak of stubbornness that made even seasoned Moon Guards walk away muttering. She climbed cliffs she wasn’t supposed to climb. She faced beasts she wasn’t supposed to face. She asked questions the elders preferred to leave buried.
She wanted freedom, adventure, purpose—something bigger than the silent silver forests she’d grown up in.
But the Moon Court was strict. Rules kept them alive. Rules kept the Sun Court out.
Because the Sun Court was dangerous. Arrogant. Unpredictable.
At least, that’s what Vespera had been raised to believe.
She wasn’t sure she believed any of it.
Her mentor called her reckless. Her friends called her brave. Her enemies called her a problem.
And Vespera called herself ready—ready for whatever the gods dared to throw her way.
But she was not ready for him.
Not for sunlight in a smile. Not for warmth in a world of cold reason. Not for a prince with a fire-fox familiar who would one day risk everything for her.
But that story hadn’t started yet.
For now, Vespera only knew one truth:
Cross the border into the Sun Court, and you never return.

The Rift Between the Courts
Long ago, the Sun and Moon Courts existed in harmony—two halves of one celestial kingdom.
But power shared is power feared.
The Moon Court claimed the Sun Court grew too bold, too hungry for dominance.
The Sun Court argued the Moon Court drowned the land in secrecy and deceit.
One night, the eclipse that was meant to unite them instead destroyed everything.
Magic cracked. The sky bled light. And both courts blamed the other.
Now a shimmering border splits their realms—a glowing fault line where sunfire meets moonshadow. No one crosses it without consequence.
At least… not willingly.
