Faith, has been waiting impatiently, getting up out of her chair several times now, searching and scanning the entrance of the restaurant.
"Seriously, would you stop looking around!" Caroline told Faith.
"He said he'll meet me here. It's been like thirty minutes. He's still not here." Faith said, not really talking to anyone.
"Who are we waiting for?" Lillie whispered to Caroline.
"Guy number seven. She thinks they are soul mates." Caroline whispered back to Lillie.
"Didn't he get your number like a normal person?" Lillie asked Faith.
Just then, a nervous guy in dress pants and shirt comes into view. He talked to the hostess, who pointed in the ladies' direction. Faith, seeing him, gave him a wave over. "There he is!" Said Faith, relieved, with a giant smile on her face.
"And that's my cue to pay for the bill and hit the bathroom." Lillie said.
Lillie stood and started to walk towards the middle of the restaurant. An inexperience, short new waitress with a large load of food doesn't see Lillie walking. The waitress cuts Lillie off in front of Will and Maureen's table. Lillie gets out of the way by leaning onto their table, she waited for the waitress to pass, not glancing at Will or Maureen.
"Sorry, a large load of food coming by. Thanks!" She whispered, smiling, speaking to no one in particular. Lillie left just as quick.
Will becomes speechless as he watched Lillie. Maureen is studying Will's new behavior with amazement. Maureen turned to look at where Will's eyes followed. But she only sees the back of Lillie.
"Are you okay? You look as if you saw a ghost." Asked Maureen.
Will, licked his lips, looked down at his half empty plate as he loosens his collar with one of his hand.
"I, I thought I knew her from somewhere." He said, uneasy.
Maureen looks over to where Lillie is standing. She smiled when she saw it was Lillie.
"You're handsome, fun, smart, and rich. Why are you still single?" Asked Maureen, knowing it will make him uncomfortable.
Will smiled, took a drink of his wine and looked over at Lillie, who was now talking to the hostess. He returned to face Maureen again.
"Will, you haven't answered not one question about your love life. You're so mysterious." She stated as she shook her head.
"Am I?" Will asked as he relaxed in his chair.
"If you would rather not answer that. Then answer why don't you date friends or family friends or anything in between?" She questioned, generally interested, as she leaned forward.
Will smiled. Took in a deep breath.
"If I answer this, will you drop the rest?" Will asked her.
"Sure!" Maureen replied.
"Back in college, I started dating a friend of a friend for about a year and a half. Things didn't end well and I lost a friend. A very close friend." He informed her, uncomfortably.
"Okay. Their lost!" She said, noticing his discomfort.
Caroline walked passed Will and Maureen's table, holding two coats and a purse in hand. Lillie walked out of the bathroom and saw Caroline waiting, who handed her, her coat. They both walked out of the restaurant.
"See? That wasn't so bad, opening up. Here is to making progress." She said. Maureen raised her glass of wine.
Will raised his glass of wine and took a sip, he casually looked in the direction Lillie walked to and saw she wasn't there. Maureen observed, he turned back to Maureen. She saw something new on Will's face, she's never seen before. A hint of disappointment.
