"You know what it is? I think our timing is just wrong." Said Lillie.
"What do you mean?" Daisy asked.
"We are both just so busy. Our schedules never line up. It's either work, or family, an emergency." Explained Lillie.
"What does he do again?" Asked Daisy.
"He's an art painter, but also a full-time dance choreographer. But he's been getting into business lately." Lillie informed her friend.
"That's.... Okay." Not really knowing what to say as she thinks. "Did you do your checklist for this man? Cause it seems like you've been given this man countless chances. Cute?" She chuckled.
"Check." Said Lillie.
"Charming?" Daisy asked.
"Check." Replied Lillie.
"Patient?" Daisy asked.
"Check." Recalled Lillie.
"Kind?" Daisy asked.
"Sometimes." Lillie Hesitating.
"Good sense of humor?" Daisy asked.
"Yes." Giggled Lillie.
"Supportive?" Daisy asked.
"Check." Lillie said.
"Disciplined?" Daisy asked.
"Maybe?" Lillie said.
"Self-control?" Daisy asked.
"Check." Lillie said.
"Honest?" Daisy asked.
"Check." Lillie said.
"Motivated?" Daisy asked.
"Definitely." Lillie said.
"Emotional connection?" Daisy asked.
"To be determined." Lillie said.
"Well okay! Are you keeping your options open?" Daisy asked nervously.
"Maybe." She thinks for a second. "Honestly, no, I haven't. Matt is a great guy. And I feel like if I find someone new and if he ready to..." Lillie gets cut off by Daisy.
"You are totally waiting for him! Lillie? What if he's never ready, or he finds someone else?" Daisy questioned Lillie as she threw a chip at her. "Lillie, when it comes to men, you are so clueless for the ones that are genuinely interested in you. Instead, you get the one who are least interested. What am I going to with you?" Daisy, has the bag of chips on her belly. She eats a chip and hands the bag to Lillie.
Lillie rested the back of her head on the arm of the sofa in thought.
Lillie and her two friends, Caroline and Faith, are standing in the women's line for a speed dating date in a dining hall at The Sunset Hotel. At the head of the line is a three woman, signing everyone in and handing out numbers. One by one, the line gets shorter and shorter and the girls get closer to the sign-in table.
"Why do I keep getting myself into these things?" Asked Lillie, to no one in particular.
"Because Daisy asked." Faith replied. The older and wiser one of the group.
"And we got a support, our girl." Caroline, the bubbly one of the group, told Lillie as she pushed back her blond hair from her face. Both Faith and Caroline turned to watch a sexy Italian walk into the men's line.
Lillie, occupied is still looking at the front of the line, begins to be impatient.
"How... Did you see that?" Caroline whispered to the girls.
Lillie turned to look around, missing what they were looking at. Faith is still looking at the line of men.
"He's cute. Maybe, it's not so bad." Said Faith, with a large smile on her face.
"I didn't eat. I'm starving." Lillie said.
"I got a candy bar." Said Caroline, finding the bar inside her bag and handing it to Lillie.
"Thanks!" Replied Lillie, as she opened the wrapper and taking a bite.
"You owe me dinner." Caroline said to Lillie.
Lillie, already halfway through the candy bar, looked surprised by the news.
"One candy bar equals dinner." Asked Lillie, amused as she chewed.
"Oh, can I be on that?" Asked Faith. She looked up and pointed. "Oh, we're next." She said.
All the three women turned to face the front of the line. Lillie gives the women their QR code at the table. The women scan them in, hands them numbers and name tags before they entered the dining hall room.
