Love Hurts

Chapter 6

I ran until I had sweat pouring down my face and it started to rain. I knew that they were following me.  I knew I had to throw them off my trail. So every stream I came across I ran through knowing that they couldn’t track me in water.

I came across a meadow and fell down in the grass. I fell and I was looking up at the sky and the tall trees. Rain water fell on my face refreshing me. I closed my eyes and soon fell asleep.

Everything was bright. I looked around and saw him. Kellen. He smiled at me and made his way over to me. He grabbed me in his arms and crashed his lips to mine.

I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him closer to me. He took ahold of my waist and lifted me onto his hips. I deepened the kiss and I heard him moan. He pulled back and I looked into his eyes.

Then he whispered my name "Bridget".

"Bridget wake up please." a female voice said full of panic. I opened my eyes and say the girl named Tiffany leaning over me with a panicked expression. I tried to sit up but a wave of dizziness swept over me and made me fall back down.

"What do you want?" I snarled not really liking her. She looked at the trees then back at me.

"When you ran off Kellen broke down." she said clearly upset now.

"What do you mean broke down?" I asked sitting up.

"I mean he kind of sobbed then took off after you. But you were already so far away." Tiffany said looking down.

I didn’t really care anymore. He had a fiancée and we were mates. It didn’t add up in my mind but whatever. If he was so in love I was going to let it be. I looked around at the trees and I felts eyes on me. I suddenly became uneasy.

"What’s watching me?" I whispered my eyes wide.

"Wolves." Tiffany said simply. Then a huge wolf came into view. The same color from before. Kellen. What does he want?

 Then before I could say anything or run Kellen shifted. It was almost like magic. I saw a wolf then a human was standing in its place. And that human was Kellen and of course he was naked.

"Bridget what were you thinking?" he asked in a semi-normal voice.

"You two are happily in love I wanted to let you be." I said trying not to look at him. Tears were starting to weld up in my eyes. Kellen knelt down to me and gave Tiffany a look. She got up to leave when Kellen sat down next to me.

"It hurts to see you with her." I whispered. Tears already streaming down my face. Whoa! What is wrong with me?! I barely know the guy and I already have heartache over him.

Kellen looked over at me and sighed. Then he spoke. His voice full of emotion.

"I never thought I would find my mate. And I guess I thought I was in love with Tiffany. But I realized when I was looking for you she was just a filler." he said not looking at me keeping his voice low.

"So then what are we?"

"We are mates." he said confused.

"No dumbass. What are we to each other?" I said. It was a while before he answered. He was thinking it over.

"We can be anything we want to be. Whether that is friends, lovers, or we could be together." he said gazing into my eyes. And the expression in his eyes took me away and made my heart speed up. Soon enough our faces were close together and I closed my eyes.

I felt his warm breath on my lips and I lightly touched my lips to his. I pulled away and whispered,

"Let’s start with friends."
