"Not yet now, but you will tell me soon," Logan implied.

There was a short silence for a moment until Charles parted his lips slightly and spoke, "Alright you've peaked my interest. Now what do you want?"

"We have to stop Raven," Logan looked Charles dead in the eyes as he spoke, "I need your help." Logan glanced at me then back at Charles, "We need your help."

"I think I'd like to wake up now," Charles stood up, gripping onto the railing as he stood. He slowly walked away into his study.

Hank frowned, looking down at the ground as he left. "What does she have to do with this?" He asked as he went back to his human form.

"So you're saying they took Raven's power and they what? Weaponized it?" Charles asked as he poured himself another glass of alcohol. I cringed slightly in my seat. This was his second glass in just this morning. How much will it accumulate to by the end of the day?

"Yep," Logan simply nodded.

"She is unique," Hank added, stroking his chin in concentration.

"Yeah she is Hank," Charles agreed, moving away from his desk and walked towards me, plopping down beside me on the couch.

"In the beginning, they were targeting mutants. Then they began to identify the genetics in non-mutants who would eventually have mutant children or grandchildren. Many of the humans tried to help us, but it was a slaughter, leaving only the worst of humanity in charge," Logan explained. It's crazy to think that just twenty years from my time, all that was going to happen. "I've been in a lot of wars. I've never seen anything like this. And it all starts with her."

"Say for the sake of...the sake, that I believe you, that I choose to help you, Raven won't listen to me," Charles was slumped against the couch, shaking his head. "No her heart and soul belongs to someone else now."

I'm guessing he meant Erik. Ever since they'd run off together with the rest of their team, I hadn't heard from them since.

"I know," Logan stood up, "That's why we're gonna need Magneto too."

"Wait what?!?" I interrupted, shocked that he hadn't mentioned that part to me earlier. Now seeing Charles again was tough, but Erik? This was going to be hell.

Charles snickered in disbelief. "Erik?" Hank seemed confused as well, "You do know where he is?"

"Yup," Logan nodded.

Charles seemed to be having a blast seeing as he was in a fit of laughter. Where was he this year? I thought for a moment. Oh that's right! Prison! In the pentagon to be exact. For killing the president...

Charles stood up, his expression becoming more fierce, "He's where he belongs." He began to walk out of the room.

"Well that's it, you're just gonna walk out?" Logan called out.

"Oh top marks, like I said, you are perceptive," Charles pointed at Logan with a smile.

"The Professor I know would never turn his back on someone who lost his path," Logan stated as Charles approached the staircase, "Especially someone he loved."

Charles stopped in his place and turned around, stumbling back a bit. "You know, I think I do remember you now," he walked towards Logan as he spoke with a smile, "yeah, we came to you a long time ago seeking your help. And I'm going to say to you, what you said to us then."

Charles took a deep breath and muttered, "Fuck off." Logan quickly grabbed Charles by the collar, causing Hank and I to both jump up from our seats.

"Listen to me you little shit," Logan growled, "I've come a long way. And I've watched a lot of people die. Good people, friends. If you wanna wallow in self pity and do nothing, then you're gonna watch the same thing. Ya understand?"

Charles was unresponsive, causing Logan to aggressively push him off. "We all have to die sometime," was all Charles said before he turned and walked back upstairs.

"Told ya there was no professor here," Hank said.

What happened to him? He was not the Charles I once knew. Something changed. "I'm gonna go talk to him," I finally spoke.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Logan raised a brow.

"It's worth a shot," I shrugged and walked upstairs.
