"Logan?" I arched my brow, confused at how he was here. Standing in the middle of my living room was Logan, aka Wolverine, with a leather jacket on and his claws out bear. I lowered my hand, unfreezing him. He gasped and retracted his claws once he caught his breath. "Are you going to explain how the hell you broke into my home?"
"Would it be crazy if I told you I'm from the future?" Logan smiled nervously, hoping I'd laugh as well.
"If I lived in a world where crazy stuff like this never happens, then yeah, I'd think you're batshit insane," I replied with a shrug, "But sadly, I've dealt with this my whole life. Who sent you?"
"Kitty. She sent me back a few years to get to you now. But she can't send me back farther without possibly risking death. So I need your help to take me to 1973," Logan explained.
"Sorry, no can do. That's too far back, even for me. I don't do that anymore," I shook my head as I stood up, ready to shoo him out.
"But we need your help. If I don't go to the past, all our friends are going to die," Logan insisted.
"So? Why should I care? I left the X-Men, remember?" I said coldly. I had a normal life for once. This was exactly what I wanted to avoid.
"Because, Charles will die," he said, hoping that would spark something.
"He was getting old anyways. His time was bound to come around sooner or later," I muttered, brushing off his comment.
He sighed, as if ready to bear even more worse news, "Because I'm dating your daughter...well future her. And she's going to die too if you don't help."
"Wait-you date my daughter in the future?" My eyes widened in anger, "Why wasn't I there to stop that?!?"
"Well as you mentioned, you said you were done with the x-men," he shrugged with a sly smirk.
"I can't believe you'd put her in danger like that. We'll deal with that later, let's just go," I held out my hand in reluctance.
He raised a brow, "In your pj's?"
"Huh?" I glanced down at myself to see I was in a grey t-shirt and black sweats. I chuckled, "Oh, it'll be fine. Since I'm reversing time, we'll end up wherever we were in 1973. So I'll be wearing actual clothes."
"Oh okay. Wait, what if we're really far from each other and can't meet up?" Logan asked.
I sighed, "Do you want to save your friends or not? Common!"
"Okay okay," Logan replied, taking my hand.
"If I haven't found you after twenty-four hours, either I still haven't recovered from traveling back this far or you're really difficult to find. Either way, I'll need you to find me if that does occur," I warned. He nodded grimly in confirmation. With a deep breath, I closed my eyes and focused on taking us back in time.
~Year 1973, New York City~
I woke up to the blinding sun peaking through thin strings of beads hanging across the window. As I stood up, I looked myself in the mirror to see I wasn't in my pajamas anymore. It was weird that I didn't feel that tired after traveling back in time this far. Maybe a little dizzy but other than that, I felt okay.
I walked over to the window, moving the beads out of the way to see where I was. There were tons of buildings and skyscrapers all around. The streets were crowded with automobiles and people who were all in a rush to get somewhere. New York City.
Now I remembered. A few years after Charles got shot, our team lasted for a little while. Though they weren't the best of years, I enjoyed them for a while. It took a long time for me to get my powers back and I felt pretty useless, however. That's when I decided to leave and find a life on my own, a normal one. This time, I told everyone in advance rather than just running away and that's when I had moved to New York.
So now I had to look for Logan, wherever the heck he was. Oh wait, I don't have my laptop. Wonderful... With a sigh, I walked over to my bookshelf, where I had a huge yellow phone book.
~About three hours later~
Still keeping my nose in the books, I was interrupted by the sound of a loud knock at my apartment door. I walked over to the door and opened it slowly to see Logan standing there in a light brown leather jacket, a flowery button up and dark jeans.
"What took you so long?" I scoffed as I let go of the door, letting him inside.
He closed the door behind him, "Stop complaining. Be lucky we were both in the same state."
I sighed, rolling my eyes, "So where to now?"
"We've got to see Charles. He'll know how to help us," Logan stated.
I paused for a moment, trying to process what he just said. "Wait- did you just say Charles? As in Charles Xavier?"
"As in your boy toy? Yes. Now let's go," he persisted, swinging a car key with a paw attached to it in his hand.
I really didn't want to go. Like dreadfully. Charles and I hadn't ended on good terms as I remembered. But I needed to push my feelings aside. This was important and I had to save my daughter.
"Fine let's go," I grabbed my bag and headed out.
Logan walked out as well, closing the door as he left. With a slight smirk, he asked, "Were you a gogo girl in the 70's?"
"What? No! What makes you think that?" I scowled at him.
"Well you've got the dress and boots that tell me otherwise," Logan shrugged nonchalantly as he passed by. I glanced down at my outfit to see what he was talking about. I wore a red flowery dress with knee-high brown leather boots. I was so not a gogo girl. Screw you Logan.
