where i'm safe

library

kai's pov

another boring day.. i'm not busy today so i decided to stop at the library so i can get a few books to read at the park. i pull my headphones from off my ear as i walk into the library. 

i love the library because you have to be quiet and i love peace and quiet! any place too loud for my liking i just put my headphones on.

i come to this library quite often so i know most of the employees. i quickly walk to the counter to see who's working today.

it's aria! "hi ari" i smile at her. "hi bubba" she smiles back at me.

i pout at her. she always calls me little nicknames like that. she says it's because i'm younger then her and still a baby but she's only two years older than me! i'm 18 and she's 20! hmph.

she rolled her eyes "oh quit pouting. are you getting more books today?" 

"uh huh and here's the books i finished reading."

"thank you lovely. enjoy your stay. i'll be right here if you need help okay?" aria says looking at me.

"okay ari" i tell her before wandering off into the kids section.. hopefully ari doesn't see me.

my name is kai, and as you know i'm 18. i'm freshly graduated from highschool and still living with my parents. i'm a girl, but i dress kinda boyish. i don't really like skirts or makeup. i like being comfy.

i'm quite shy, so for majority of my life it's just been me, my parents, my stuffed animals and a few online friends here and there. i love to eat and read books; more specifically look at picture books.

lastly i'm also an age regressor or a little as some may call it. i haven't told anyone about it. not even aria. but she's always saying sweet things to me and calling me nicknames so i think i may have slipped around her a few times without realizing it. i don't think she realizes either and i don't know if i'll ever build up the courage to tell her either. 

i also never really explored my little side so i don't know my age range or what i may like. all i know is i would love to know how it feels to have a mommy. maybe even two! woah!

"hey kai, are you okay bubba? "aria asks, breaking me out of my thoughts.

i blink and look up. aria's standing near me with a soft smile. she must've seen me zoning out.

"penny for your thoughts?" she asks me as she looks at the books in my hand. "oh you like cars?"

"uh huh " i say looking up at her a little.

"i like cars too,especially the old school ones. "

i'm honestly surprised she didn't say anything about me being in the kids section, i think to myself.

"if you want, you can sit near the front and read while i work. it's more quiet."

"can i sit by the window?" i ask softly

"of course, lovely. i'll even bring you a snack from the break room."

"thank you ari"

"no problem baby"

i curl up by the window with my book as aria walks off. i don't know how long i'm there but eventually i see her again, slipping her jacket on.

she looks over at me. "hey, i'm about to get off. wanna go grab something to eat?"

"yes please"

"okay cmon"
