INT. MESSY ROOM – NIGHT
A dimly lit, cluttered space. FILM EQUIPMENT, crumpled scripts, and rejected college assignment papers surround a slouched figure.
KEVIN (28), worn-out and unshaven, stares at his cracked reflection in a dusty mirror. Books on directing and filmmaking lie forgotten around him.
KEVIN (V.O.)
Since I was thirteen, I wanted to be a filmmaker.
But to the world... I was just a kid wasting time.
INT. KEVIN’S ROOM – LATER
Kevin scrolls his laptop. Dozens of assignment tabs. A blinking clock ticks towards a deadline.
Suddenly, a dark ad pulses on the screen:
💀 UNLOCK YOUR TRUE SELF – DARK SCRIPT
He hesitates. Then clicks.
The screen flashes red. Glowing symbols appear.
KEVIN
(reading)
Et nos dividere... tenebris intro...
FLASH! A red light blasts the room. Kevin screams and collapses.
INT. SURREAL VOID – NIGHT
Kevin floats mid-air. His body SPLITS—
On the left: GOOD KEVIN – weak, glasses intact.
On the right: BAD KEVIN – muscular, shirtless, blood-streaked, cracked glasses, evil grin.
KEVIN (V.O.)
That night... my soul fractured.
Half writer. Half regret.
INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT – FIRST CYCLE
Kevin jerks awake, sweating.
KEVIN
(jumps up)
Was that a dream?
A dark shadow moves. BAD KEVIN steps out, smirking.
BAD KEVIN
You really thought you were dreaming, four-eyed freak?
Kevin screams.
SFX: THUD! CRACK!
INT. BEDROOM – SECOND CYCLE
Kevin wakes again, bleeding.
KEVIN (V.O.)
Same room. Same scars. But this time...
He grabs his bent glasses. BAD KEVIN looms.
BAD KEVIN
Poor vision. Poor dreams. We’re the same, Kevin.
BAD KEVIN
You’re not the good guy. You’re the coward hiding behind dreams. I’m the truth. Raw. Unedited.
KEVIN
You’re the failure. The anger. The quitter.
Kevin throws a script folder—hits him. BAD KEVIN snarls and drags him violently into the cupboard.
SFX: SMACK! BANG!
Kevin sprays deodorant into BAD KEVIN’s eyes and smashes a table lamp.
SFX: KRASH!
INT. BEDROOM – THIRD CYCLE
Kevin wakes up again. No glasses.
KEVIN
I’m still here… why can’t I escape?
BAD KEVIN appears, even more manic.
BAD KEVIN
Because this is who you are. Dying… again and again.
BAD KEVIN
Your life’s been a draft that never made the final cut.
You always let others direct your movie.
FLASHBACK – COLLEGE FRIENDS MOCKING
FRIEND
Bro, just give up! Or shoot porn at least—something marketable.
INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT
BAD KEVIN
Even when they joked about porn—you smiled.
You didn’t prove them wrong. You adapted to failure.
KEVIN
That’s not true...
BAD KEVIN
You never fought back.
BAD KEVIN (growling)
I WANT MY LIFE. Not your scripts. Not your shame.
A life where we matter. Not hide behind keyboards.
INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT – STRUGGLE
Kevin tries to restrain BAD KEVIN with rope—fails. Now Kevin is tied up.
BAD KEVIN, grinning wide, moves toward the DOOR.
BAD KEVIN (whispers)
I’ll kill him. That man who broke your dreams—your dad.
KEVIN
No! Don’t touch him! You’re not me!
Kevin breaks free, drags BAD KEVIN back inside.
SFX: THUD!
INT. BEDROOM – FOURTH CYCLE
Kevin wakes, calm. Blood-stained script by his side.
KEVIN
I’ve seen enough. It ends tonight.
INT. BEDROOM – FINAL FIGHT
PUNCHES. BLOWS. A monitor SMASHES.
Kevin strangles BAD KEVIN with tangled headphones.
BAD KEVIN (screaming)
I WANT MY LIFE!!!
KEVIN
Then live through me… the right way.
Kevin grabs the broken screen—SMASHES it into BAD KEVIN’s face.
BAD KEVIN falls, motionless... smiling... eyes open.
INT. BEDROOM – 11:58 PM
Kevin, bleeding, types:
> Assassin of the Assignment
He hits submit—but the contest deadline has passed.
KEVIN
...missed it.
INT. BEDROOM – LATER THAT NIGHT
Kevin sleeps.
His computer glows red. A file auto-uploads:
> The_Cycle_Script_Kevin_Final.docx
INT. BEDROOM – MORNING
His phone RINGS. A FRIEND on the line.
FRIEND (V.O.)
Bro! YOU WON THE COMPETITION! That script was INSANE!
KEVIN
...what?
INT. BEDROOM – LATER
Kevin tapes up BAD KEVIN’s mouth, ropes him, shoves him into the cupboard.
He hears footsteps—his MOM approaches with laundry.
She reaches for the cupboard handle.
KEVIN
No—don’t open it!
FADE OUT.
