The dorm was quieter than usual that night.
Soobin had gone to bed early. Kai was in his room on a late-night Discord call. Taehyun was editing a cover.
Only Yeonjun and Beomgyu were left in the living room kind of.
Yeonjun sat on the couch, staring at the muted TV. Beomgyu was at the kitchen counter, stirring instant ramen absentmindedly. The air between them? Heavy.
They hadn't spoken properly since the shoot.
Yeonjun knew why. And he hated how his own silence had made it worse.
He stood up slowly, walking toward Beomgyu.
"You're still mad," he said quietly.
Beomgyu didn't look up. "Not mad."
Yeonjun waited.
Beomgyu finally sighed. "Just... confused."
Yeonjun stepped closer. "About what?"
Beomgyu looked at him now. Really looked. His eyes were soft, but tired. "I know a lot of the things we do are for the fans. The hugs, the flirting, the closeness."
Yeonjun nodded. "Yeah."
"But sometimes..." Beomgyu's voice lowered. "Sometimes I don't know when we're pretending. And when we're not."
That hit Yeonjun square in the chest.
Because he didn't know either.
He exhaled. "I think... I stopped pretending a while ago."
Beomgyu's eyes widened barely, but enough for Yeonjun to see it.
They stood there, between the couch and the kitchen, in a moment that felt too quiet for idols, too raw for friends.
Beomgyu put down the spoon.
"You didn't say that during the shoot," he said.
Yeonjun stepped forward. "Because there were cameras."
"And now?"
"No cameras."
A pause.
Then Yeonjun did something he hadn't planned.
He reached out, fingers brushing Beomgyu's wrist. Not dramatic. Not over the top. Just... real.
Beomgyu looked down at the touch.
He didn't pull away.
"Hyung," he whispered, unsure. "If this is real... then what are we?"
Yeonjun's voice was low. Steady. "I don't know yet. But I want to find out."
Beomgyu's breath hitched, and for a second, the distance between them didn't feel scary anymore. It felt inevitable.
And maybe... right.
