Argh!
I checked her screen, and her Instagram account was open.
Felix Miguel Enrique Morales
Kumain ka na?
I saw on the text. My eyes widened.
What the fuck?!
My gaze shifted back to her, and she, on the other hand, bit her lip, unable to hide the excitement building within her. There was a softness in her eyes, a fluttering that seemed to escape her control, as if the very thought of the person she was texting had stirred something delicate and undeniable within her. It was as though she was trying to suppress the warmth spreading across her face, but every little gesture, every subtle smile, betrayed the fact that she was caught in the spell of something new and thrilling.
Shit, this b*tch! Lumalandi!
"Fuck you. Natatawa niya 'yong kinuha.
"Hindi ka naman nagtanong!"
Shucks! I can't believe this!
"Syempre! Panalo 'to!"
"Sus! Baka naman infatuated lang 'yan. Sinabi bang type ka talaga? Baka gawin ka lang fling, ah? Mukha pa naman maharot at playboy."
I suddenly pulled her hair because of what she said.
"You're overreacting! Nasa 'getting to know each other' palang kami, teh. Huwag kang advance! Friends-friends palang!"
"Friends daw. Huwag ako, Tiffany. Kilala ko pagkatao mo mula ulo hanggang paa."
Si Tiffany, madali 'yang ma-in love, pero madali ring maloko. Her last boyfriend 5 years ago, ayon, niloko lang siya.
Tiffany's laughter echoed through the cafeteria, but I could see the nervousness hiding behind her smile. She rolled her eyes at me, trying to brush off my warning. "Come on, Cil! Chill lang! Wala pa nga kaming label, eh." She grinned, as if my wild imagination was just that imagination.
"Yeah, well, remember when you said that about your last boyfriend? ‘Just getting to know each other.’ Then, bam, you were his personal ATM. Are you really sure Felix is different?" I raised an eyebrow, giving her my best skeptical look.
Honestly, I don't want to judge Felix since he's Theo's friend. At mukhang mabuti naman nga siya—but since Tiffany is involved, I can't stop myself from being concern. Of course, bestfriend ko siya, mag-aalala talaga ako!
"Not everyone’s out to use me, Cil. I know what I’m doing this time. I’m smarter now. Trust me, okay?" Her tone softened, though the underlying tension was clear.
I sighed, knowing I couldn’t convince her right now. Tiffany was stubborn, especially when it came to love—or whatever she called it.
"Alright, alright. Just don’t come crying to me when you end up being heartbroken, okay?" I said, my voice teasing, though I couldn’t hide the genuine concern behind it.
Tiffany giggled again, but her expression was a little more thoughtful. "I’ll be careful, promise."
I nodded, but in the back of my mind, I wasn’t so sure. Tiffany had a habit of diving into things without looking too closely. And Felix? He seemed too smooth, too perfect to be true. I just hoped she wasn't setting herself up for heartbreak.
But before I could say anything else, Tiffany's phone buzzed again, and her face lit up like a Christmas tree. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
Talagang may tama na 'to.
"Another text?" I asked sarcastically. But Tiffany didn’t even hear me; she was already typing away, her smile wider than before.
"Tinatanong niya ako kung puwede ba kaming lumabas after ng klase natin."
"Gosh, you’re seriously gonna see him today?" I couldn’t help the slight edge of disbelief in my voice.
"Yup!" She said it with such enthusiasm, I almost felt like I was the one who should be excited.
"Alright, I see how it is. Have fun with your little prince charming. Just... don’t forget to keep your guard up, okay?" huling paalala ko.
"I promise, Cil. I’ll be careful." She smiled softly, her eyes full of that familiar spark I hadn’t seen in years.
I guess, I had to let her make her own decisions. Just like I was letting myself make mine with Theo.
