A "Tanka Poem" is a poem with five lines that usually don't rhythm. The first and third line are usually five syllables while the second fourth and fifth are usually seven syllables. The third line is the "changing point" in the poem. If you read the first three lines you get one image and if you read the last three lines you get a different image. The third line is what makes that happen.
