Chapter 9 : Closer

"I like this young fellow...Even though he had just joined GMMTV for two years and only had two series so far, I really think he has great potential.." Mr. Tha said.

Sky smiled calmly, "yeah. I like him too.." Sky looked at the picture of Nani in his hand, it was Nani's F4 era picture, with long hair being let loose. Cute, Sky thought. And as usual, his heart melted at the sight of this person.

Nani has shorter hair now, he had ditched the long hair and undercut hairstyle for several months now. He's still cute now. Nani is cute in whatever hair cut. Sky thought.

"Okay then, the major problem is solved..We are in the middle of finalizing the entire casts..I will give you a call, when we have the final line ups." Mr. Tha said, extending his hand to Sky, picking the pictures up, putting them back in the file. "We will meet for the final decision, soon."

Sky casually took Nani's picture and put it in his pocket without Mr. Tha noticing, then he took Mr. Tha's hand, "okay sir. I can't wait." Sky smiled widely.

"Me too.." Mr. Tha smiled back, "I have a very good feeling about this series...Don't worry!" He patted Sky's shoulder.

Sky nodded, and then he stood up, saluting Mr. Tha as he exited the director's office.

Sky's heart had been beating hard and fast excitedly since Mr. Tha showed him the pictures of the actors, he listed to be his partner in the series.

From the moment that Mr. Tha told him about the series he planned to make and that he wanted Sky to be one of the two main leads, saying that it's a high school friendship drama with two male leads, Sky already decided on one person in his heart and mind.

When Mr. Tha told him that he would list down some names and give him their pictures, to help him pick his partner in the series, Sky prayed that Nani would be in Mr. Tha's list. After all, Nani had played the role of MJ, a bad ass character in F4 Thailand and he had that charisma to be in a series where there would be a lot of intense fights and dramas. As an actor, Sky saw Nani's potential. Of course, that's not the only reason though.

Sky joined GMMTV for Nani. He had been trying to get close to Nani in these past six months, after silently watching Nani from afar for almost a year, ever since their first meeting. As one of the veterans in Nadao Agency, he was one of the few who knew that Nadao was going to close its Actors management Agency to focus on music talents and shows. And thus, he knew that he would be released from his contract soon. It made his plan to get close to Nani easier. He didn't need to wait another three years for his contract to expire. So, Sky waited. Patiently. All the while, keeping his eyes on his adorable person. Nani Hirunkit.

Sky was never a patient person before. He's not keen on waiting. If he wanted something and he couldn't get it within a certain time acceptable to him, he would rather lose it and move on, than wait for it. But everything changed when he met Nani. Sky realized that he had endless patience when it comes to Nani. Even though, watching Nani on his Instagram posts and stories was not nearly enough, he made do with it. For almost one year, that was his life.

He has his works. And he has his friends. And then he has Nani.

When Nadao finally officially released all the actors from their binding contract with compensation, of course, Sky was immediately approached by a GMMTV staff. It was as expected. And then, he signed with GMMTV.

Some of his former colleagues in Nadao and even some of his friends, were surprised when he joined GMMTV. They thought that he would not be joining any agency. They though he would establish his own independent studio. Honestly, that would have been his plan too; if he hadn't met a certain person named Nani Hirunkit Chankham. But meeting Nani, changed everything for Sky.

Still, Sky's plan to get closer to Nani when he joined GMMTV didn't go as smoothly as he imagined. The agency is huge. There were hundreds of talents under the agency and meeting each other was not easy unless the agency put you together for work. And in the first several months that Sky came to GMMTV, he only saw Nani several times. They interacted several times and the interactions were too short for Sky's liking. Sky still had to resort to watching Nani through his insta, which was frustrating a little but there's never a time that Sky felt like letting go. That's when, like a god-send, Mr. Tha Sataporn met him and told him about his plan to make a series, and Sky was his first choice as the male lead.

When Mr. Tha presented him with the rough outline of the plot, Sky almost bowed down to him. The series seemed like it was made for him and Nani.

When finally seeing Nani's pictures in Mr. Tha's suggestion as his partner in the series, Sky felt a huge sense of relief. He was prepared to reject anybody who is not Nani. If Nani was not in Mr. Tha's list, he was going to persuade Mr. Tha one way or the other. Fortunately, God still favours him. Fortunately, his Nani is that good of an actor that even with just two series, a seasoned executive director like Mr. Tha still has a lasting impression of him.

Sky kept his calm while he was in Mr. Tha's office. But just as he closed the door behind him, he broke into a celebratory mess. He jumped a few times. And even gave thanks to the heaven above.

"What are you doing?" Phi Som's voice startled Sky.

He turned around to see Phi Som, the manager appointed for him when he joined GMMTV and there was also Phi Thie, his manager in Nadao who also got into GMMTV and now works as Phi Som's right hand staff.

Phi Som looks after several actors in GMMTV, so she wouldn't be able to cater to Sky 24/7 but Phi Thie could. When Sky signed with GMMTV, he had made it clear that one of the reason he was able to work without hitch while he was in Nadao, was because he got a hard working and responsible manager. GMMTV took notice and when Sky's manager sent a job application, he was accepted, and now working with Sky again.

Phi Som raised an eyebrow, "You seemed overjoyed."

Sky gulped, using his years of acting up experience to calm himself and act normal again, " ah..of course..I'll be acting in my first series after 5 years."

Phi Som and Phi Thie looked at each other and smiled, "congratulations!" Then Phi Som said, "but Mr. Tha had already told you that a few months ago.."

"It was only a rough plan a few months ago. Now, everything's almost settled..and it's now more or less confirmed..." Sky gave a solid reply. Phi Som nodded. Satisfied with the answer.

"It's not like you haven't acted at all in these five years. You had filmed two movies back to back last year.." Phi Thie whispered when he walked with Sky to their job appointment afterwards. Phi Som was walking a little further ahead, and was on the phone.

"They're different.." Sky said, "this is a series.."

"Who is your co-star?" Phi Thie asked. Sky almost broke into a smile but held himself back.

"They're in the final stage of selection, Mr. Tha said that he would call me again for the final casting call..." Sky had told Phi Thie that Mr. Tha would like Sky to be involved in the casting call because the success of the series depends a lot on the rapport between the casts. Sky didn't tell Phi Thie that he was actually specifically asked to choose his partner though.

Sky trusted Phi Thie but, when it comes to Nani, for the time being he would rather keep everything to himself. After all, Nani is still out of his reach. At the moment, Sky felt that he and Nani weren't even colleagues yet. At most, he and Nani were just acquaintances. So, let them be closer than they are right now, before he tell Phi Thie about this. Even though, Phi Thie should have suspected something because he had been acting peculiar but Sky hasn't told Phi Thie anything.

Soon. Very soon. He will be closer to Nani. Then, he will tell Phi Thie about Nani. Proudly.
