Chapter 9 : Closer

"I chose Nani Hirunkit."

Mr. Tha Sataporn, one of the Executive Directors in GMMTV, raised an eyebrow, looking at Sky.

Sky barely even looked at the pictures of the actors he suggested, and he already made a decision.

When Sky Wongravee Nateetorn, the young, but already established actor agreed to sign with GMMTV after Nadao artists management closed down, Mr. Tha had already decided for him to be one of the main leads for a series he had in mind.

Nadao artists are known for their superb acting prowess, and GMMTV, though not lacking talented actors; Sky had something that Mr. Tha thought would suit the series he had in mind perfectly. Even before Nadao closed down, Mr.Tha had already planned to offer the role to Sky through Nadao. After all Nadao and GMMTV have had many great collaborations as entertainment agencies.

But, before Mr. Tha managed to set the meeting with Nadao, the agency announced that it was closing down. They also announced that they would be rebranding and would only be managing music artists from then on. There had been very little rumours about the closing because the agency kept it tightly under wraps, not wanting to affect their artists' prior works and commitments and also to keep the company from experiencing too much loss. By the time the official announcement was made, the agency and the talents they let go parted ways amicably. There were no dramas and bitter feelings.

Other agencies were basically competing to get the actors and actresses from Nadao, when it happened. That proved just how good and qualified the actors and actresses from Nadao were. They could actually go independent and not sign with any agencies and would still land at least several acting jobs a year; and some really did establish their own independent studios.

Mr. Tha was ready to negotiate with Sky as an independent artist then, because he is one of the actors from Nadao that has that ability to go independent. But to his pleasant surprise, Sky actually signed with GMMTV.

Mr. Tha had a series that he had been wanting to produce for a few years, but it was postponed due to the pandemic. It's a remake of the Korean hit drama, School 2013. After seeing the success of the F4 Thailand; Boys over a Flower, Mr. Tha knew that the casting would be crucial to make it a success.

From the start he had set his mind on Sky Wongravee as one of the main leads. And he had several people in mind to be Sky's partner; as the series has two main male leads and heavily emphasizes the close bond between the two from the start to the end of the series. Its crucial for the two main leads to have a deep rapport with each other to make the series a success.

Mr. Tha picked several young actors who has had several series to their names and he also put in one name, whom he thought has the potential even though he was new in the agency and had only been had two series so far. Honestly, Mr. Tha didn't think that Sky would pick this person because, as someone who had been in the industry for almost 10 years Mr. Tha thought Sky would choose someone who could match his experience a little.

That's why, when Sky barely looked at the options he gave, and made his decision in the span of just a few minutes at most, he was taken aback.

"Nani Hirunkit..?" Mr. Tha asked again, wanting to make sure.

"Yes.." Mr. Tha looked at the calm and sure look on Sky's face, he nodded. The reason why he asked Sky to pick his partner in the series was, because he trusted Sky's judgement. He would be the one acting with that person. So, Sky should be able to choose the person who would suit him the best.

"Alright." Mr. Tha said. He also has a good feeling about Nani, despite not really expecting that Sky would choose him. That's why Mr. Tha still put Nani in his list.
