The cabin was quiet, wrapped in the stillness of morning. Taehyung sat on the edge of the bed, blanket pulled around his shoulders, his bare feet resting on the wooden floor. The fire had long since died out, but he hadn't moved to light it again.
A soft knock broke the silence.
Taehyung stiffened. He hesitated, his voice low but wary. "Who is it?"
"It's me," came Jungkook's voice from the other side.
Taehyung stood slowly and walked to the door. He opened it cautiously.
Jungkook stood there holding a tray with two mugs of tea. He looked calm but tired, like he hadn't slept well either.
"I thought you might need something warm," he said simply.
Taehyung stepped aside, allowing him in without a word.
Jungkook placed the tray on the small table near the window, then glanced at him. "You didn't light the fire."
"I wasn't cold," Taehyung mumbled, settling back onto the bed, still wrapped in the blanket.
Jungkook poured the tea and handed him a cup. "You should still stay warm. It helps your body feel safe, even if your mind doesn't."
Taehyung gave a small nod, not meeting his eyes.
Jungkook sat across from him, holding his own cup but not drinking yet. "Did you sleep at all?"
"A little," Taehyung replied.
Jungkook looked at him carefully. "Nightmares?"
Taehyung didn't answer this time.
"You don't have to talk about it," Jungkook said gently. "But I want you to know—it's normal. What you're feeling. The fear, the heaviness. It's all part of healing."
Taehyung stared into the cup in his hands.
"You're not broken," Jungkook continued. "You're surviving."
The silence hung thick between them for a moment. Then Jungkook's voice softened further. "I'll keep you safe. No matter what."
Taehyung's fingers tightened slightly around the mug.
"You don't have to carry this alone anymore, Taehyung," Jungkook added. "I know it's hard to trust people. But I'm not going anywhere. You can lean on me. Even if it's just a little."
A long pause.
Then, quietly, Taehyung said, "Why do you keep doing this?"
Jungkook tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
"You're the Alpha," Taehyung said. "But you're the one bringing me tea. Taking care of everything. Why?"
Jungkook gave a small smile, warm and steady. "Because you deserve to be taken care of. Not just as an Omega—but as a person. As someone who's been through too much."
Taehyung lowered his gaze, not sure how to respond.
Jungkook leaned back slightly. "This isn't about roles or power. It's about doing what's right. And right now, you need someone."
Just then, a knock sounded at the front door of the cabin.
Taehyung flinched, the cup nearly slipping from his hand.
"It's okay," Jungkook said quickly, already rising. "Stay here. I'll check."
Taehyung didn't move, heart racing as he listened to the creak of the wooden floorboards.
